What pleasure does someone gain from buying cars, parking them up, and watching them become dust? :?

I can imagine how it happens.

One day you have a fleet of 10 or so cars. Some are daily drivers, some you pull out when you want a special drive or bob down to a track day, others are projects - not today, not tomorrow, but you'll get to it eventually.
Then the stroke happens.
After 8 weeks in hospital, you are out, but your right side doesn't work. You can't drive, let alone do all the DIY maintenance you used to love. But your family sees the way you stare wistfully at your collection, so never so much as mention moving them on. As time goes by, dust and rust creeps in, and the practicalities of moving them becomes harder and harder anyway.
Then, 10 years have gone by and plants have overtaken your workshop, and you can't remember what it was you did there anyway.

Or, you are an inveterate hoarder. I remember when I was a med student on psych placement going out on a home visit to someone who bought tractors when they were in the manic phase of their bipolar. Sure enough, three brand new John Deere parked outside and a feller inside bouncing off the walls.

There’s a guy who hordes old shit at the underground carpark of my apartment. It’s odd though because each parking permit costs £3,600 per year and the cars are literally old shit worth less than the annual cost of the permit.
How about not having a sig at all?

You should give us some of your cars before they end up like this. Cut out the middle man.

I think your scenario is logical. But it was quite a sad tale.

That, to me, is abhorrent.. some of those cars could have been fixed, maintained, and driven; instead, someone repeatedly took on more than they could do, and so prevented those cars from being cared for, maintained, and loved.. it is a waste of all those vehicles imho
Cheers,

In 15 years time I will be asking Jonny smith back with a set of sheers to discover what’s hidden in the undergrowth in my garden 😅

Other than hoarding parts, nope 😄

It’s currently buried under ‘stuff’

Since saving it I’ve broken / got rid of two cars, keeping parts I want or might be useful, and added three cars plus their associated handy spares and accessories.

In fact I spent most of last week building some additional storage to try and stop everything piling on top of everything and give some space to actually do things.

Anyway, I am under strict orders and not allowed to mess with my things until the golf is back up and running :?

Have you still got the Vw camper or did that go a long time ago? Haven’t seen you mention it for years.

Still have it. Fortunately that’s mostly full of her junk which is my excuse for not doing anything on it.
