Kitchen fairy liquid

1. This poll refers to your kitchen sink/sinks. It does not refer to any other sinks in your house/home.
2. Other brands are available. You may consider "fairy liquid" as a generic term for washing-up liquids.

One of the most interesting things about your polls is trying to work out where the inspiration came from, often it is an argument in another thread that I need to hunt down. In this case, I can't find any evidence?

How people use their washing up liquid is where the real debate lies! We do have a dishwasher so it is by exception, but I tend to give the sponge/scourer a dose and wash up under running water (subject to pre-soaking if necessary).

Hence my philosophy is to buy cheap washing up liquid, as despite Fairy's claim that it lasts longer my method means I'll use the same amount of liquid whatever brand I use.

I"m in the 'give it a quick rinse' brigade for stuff I put in the dishwasher, or leave out to wash manually. Winds me up when the rest of the family leave plates/cups/pans with stuff left to stick on and make the job 10x harder later on.

I would prefer to keep it next to the sink but my wife always puts in the cupboard under the sink.

I remain averse to dishwashers, made worse by the fact that our built-in ones have no external display so if I put something in then I tend to find I'm opening it in the middle of a cycle. There's a little red light shining down to try to indicate that it's running but it's feeble.

A better question is where do you keep your toaster ??

Protestants keep their toasters in the cupboard and Catholics keep theirs on the side...

I have a lot of cast iron stuff and adonised oven wear. I also don't put my wine glasses or knives in the dishwasher either so there's washing up most days. I fill the sink, add a bit of fairy, wash and leave to drain (apart from the Iron stuff). Then rinse and dry. You know, like normal people.

@Jobbo - mine displays the part of the cycle and the time left to finish onto the floor. Still open it regularly, even though I generally put it on...

Don't have a toaster. Agree on knives and cast iron staying out of the dishwasher. Also, having just got our first set of stainless steel pans, those are somewhat satisfying to clean manually so they stay out as well.

I want it to be available when I need it, but mrs mik always puts the f'kin bottle k'kin away in the f'kin cupboard under the f'kin sink as it apparently f'kin o-f'kin-ffends her.

This is timely. I needed the fairy liquid to soak a bowl last night but it wasn’t in the usual spot: the draining board. (this is at her house, so her fairy liquid positioning)

Finally found it in the cupboard under the sink. She’d moved it. I’ll ask why later.

Have you considered a Bosch series 6? Mine has a little display that tells me how long is left, what it is doing, etc. There's even an app so you can get the same information without being in the kitchen.

I get a Smol delivery of my washing up liquid and it lives by the side of the sink where it can be used.

I have a toaster that lives in the cupboard but it doesn't fit my prefered Seeded Bloomer so it tends to stay put in favour of the gas grill.

The kettle, coffee filter, coffee bean grinder and mokka pots live on the side ready for any emergency coffee requirements.

This is a function of ADHD object permanence issues and a reaction to ExWife2's OCD requirements making my life less convenient.

Have you considered a Bosch series 6? Mine has a little display that tells me how long is left, what it is doing, etc. There's even an app so you can get the same information without being in the kitchen.

That's useful info - I doubt I'll actively choose a replacement if/when it ever breaks though...
