Bye bye Starmer
Re: Bye bye Starmer
Will it be worth it if we spend £4bil and break the civil service to get there?
That’s what they want.

I'm just gobsmacked they'd take inspiration for a project name - even if it's just the name - from a globally toxic white surpremacist whos taking utter glee in destroying the lives of a huge amount of people around the world, and is playing a large part in destroying the economy of a country. It's hardly (ostensibly) on brand for Labour and raises serious questions about the influences of people coming up with this stuff.
IE Are they Musk glazers? If so, they literally shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the corridors of power, because that's what they think is something to look up to and emulate.

I mean, are they fucking stupid? Did they not think that would get out? Are they remotely familiar with Westminster and how everything gets out???
As I say, the efficiency plan could be the most successful ever devised, work perfectly and cause improvements in work output at a lower cost for no additional stress to the staff involved, and in fact cause them to get blowjobs from ghosts under their desk every morning at 10am etc - the perfect plan - but you attach that to Musk? Might as well have called it Project InfantFucker or Project CatGutter, it'll get the same sort of visceral reaction.

It all depends on what is found though I suppose.
Whatever happens it would put a huge lack of trust in any part of government who distribute money and jobs about, which is all of it.
Maybe the threat of it will have people being far more careful, who knows.

I mean, that’s the kind of thinking that ends up with Doge taking an axe to whole areas of the government with no planning.
If you don’t trust your government to run the country what are you voting for?

I don’t trust most things pushed by large organisations where lots of money is involved.
I voted whoever was keeping my local library open the last few years

So I’m a Liberal Democrat Conservative.
I think that means I hunt foxes and hate students ?

Look forward to upcoming restrictions on gender affirming care and abortion/contraception availability.

I’m not sure that move fast and break things should be applied to the thing that keeps the country breathing tbh.

I don’t think Wed Streeting has said that, Zed. There is a lot of stiction when it comes to change in this country so moving a bit more quickly doesn’t mean blundering around like a bull in a china shop.
Re: Bye bye Starmer
What have you seen from them that still gives them that much benefit of the doubt?
They’re watching fascists destroy a society and taking notes.

As I mentioned the other day, them referring to Musk with 'project chainsaw' does not bode well and is not a good look.

I’m not really sure how anyone with a brain can see anything positive about the way trump is doing things. Hey ho, we’re all different.

Re: Bye bye Starmer
To be fair, the quote is from an interview on LBC and carefully misses off the fact he is asked “are you a house trained, polite, besuited version of Elon Musk for our times”.
WS is pretty clear that hes not and doesn’t agree with what Elon/America are doing, but is interested in the speed it’s happening.
LBC do love a gotcha question. WS didn’t come in to announce that the gov are loving Elon and want to do the same.
It’s the age old "Mussolini made the trains run on time."

Re: Bye bye Starmer
His words don’t say he is going to do the same thing. Ascribing nefarious intent to him with no evidence is ridiculous hyperbole.
I appreciate your politics and mine differ but fight things that are actually happening that you disagree with; don’t just shout at clouds.
Re: Bye bye Starmer
Wes Streeting is taking an axe to NHS England as we speak, he’s always been a fan of privatisation and he’s been taking meetings with activist groups funded by US Christian conservatives.

Just been reading about the cost of the UK's national debt, and how it's increased massively due to Covid spending. We're spending over £100bn a year simply servicing debt of £2.7tn. That's mental, no wonder these current attempts to cut budgets seem severe, because debt that high must be absolutely crippling. That debt costs far more than universal credit (£80bn), over two and a half times our defence spending (£38bn) and over half of the NHS annual budget (£188bn).
Re: Bye bye Starmer
EFA.
Have Labour started going after the billions that disappeared into the mates of the Tory Cabinet during Covid, like they promised they would before the election?
Oui, je suis un motard.
Re: Bye bye Starmer
Who is the debt owed to? Maybe we need hyper-inflation to erode the value of the debt.Gavster wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 10:34 am Just been reading about the cost of the UK's national debt, and how it's increased massively due to Covid spending.
