Missed that bit. Wife was quite a bit (32 years) younger, wonder what happened.

Re: Gene Hackman
Very sad, I love his movies and The Royal Tenenbaums is a family favourite.
I'm wondering if they chose to go together under their own terms?
Anyway, RIP, will watch one of his tonight.

Re: Gene Hackman
Damn, what a way for a legend and those closest to him to go, if it was something as trivial as not getting his heating serviced on time.
RIP

Left over crest; tightens.
Re: Gene Hackman
Noticed the other day this has just come back on to Amazon Prime again
A great film
I still find that paddy field scene hard to watch
Re: Gene Hackman
Yes a great shame. Even more so for his wife who was a lot younger.
Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State were the ones that I loved as a kid/teenager.

Re: Gene Hackman
A horrible situation. I don't know that I want to know what happened. R.i.p.

I’d forgotten Jerry Reed was in it. I always seem to think he died pretty young, forgetting he went on until 2008. And yeah, the paddy field scene is powerful stuff. That wink the pilot gives
Re: Gene Hackman
Awesome film.

I have never seen Bat21 however.

Re: Gene Hackman

Massive favourite of mine. Everyman innit. Once had my mates round for a French Connection night (sounds disgusting, I just wanted to get drunk and bang on about 70s NY). Crimson Tide is the King for me though. 'Gimme that goddamn key!'
(Bollocks, forgot about Unforgiven)

This is very sad.

His wife died of a rare virus, and they speculate he may not have understood/been aware due to his advanced Alzheimer's.
She was likely dead for days before he died.
