It's 18,000Nm "to the road"

Which isn't motor output.

Stoopid thing to say.

My VXR8 made 550Nm at the engine, so with a final drive of 3.7:1 and first gear ratio of 3.01:1 (hence overall gearing of 11.137) it delivered a peak of 6125.35Nm to the rear axle (* in 1st gear). Is anyone impressed?

Interesting.. but do electric cars have gears? The tayacan has two at the rear, but can’t think of any others

I’m not going to pretend that I think it’s the best looking car ever, but it’s a damn site more interesting and less offensive than their current gopping line up.

Hardly any, but their benefits are limited as lekky motors make max torque at 0rpm, and it then tends to tail off towards max rpm. So providing a lower gear gives you a torque multiplier, but means the motor is running faster - so less torque available.

I'm guessing the new M3 might maybe possibly have gears :?:

All EVs are geared down thus multiplying the torque. Tesla plaid motor spins at 20,000 rpm. At 200 mph the wheels are doing roughly 2,500 rpm.
How about not having a sig at all?

Quite.

Gearbox doesn’t have to mean multiple gears, but can be a simple speed or torque reduction or multiplication.

There aren’t many electric motors used anywhere that are truly direct drive to their output.

Modern BMWs do absolutely nothing for me. And by modern I mean everything post G20 LCI. The interiors are utter shite. They’ve swapped driver centric for open ergonomics, and are clearly chasing costs because they have to.
