You can actually feel what an F40 is going to do though (from my limited experience, but I never thought I was getting close to one stepping out on me, despite pretty old tyres on the three that I drove), not that I ever tried full throttle in the wet, because that would be silly in a customer car! - my distant memory of a 2.8 Z3 on a wet country road is that the front and rear behaved like completely different cars, which in some ways they are, but an E36 compact feels much more together.Ascender wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:29 pm How cool is that John Barker video![]()

And yes, that's it stepping out of line on the straight and he's pretty quick to catch it.
I see the footage of someone doing similar in Lando Norris' F40 is also doing the rounds again. Without having ever driven one, the strange this is that both of these seem to have happened at low speeds.
I say that, fully aware that I was the person who spun his meagre 2.8l Z3 going round a corner from 0-20 mph.

Re: Someone had a bad day...
Bizarrely, i don’t mind him. His shirts are pretty offensive, but i quite like his videos.
Re: Someone had a bad day...
That EVO vid looks like the same test I was at with MattH, for the TOP 100 feature. I went in that F40 with Jethro, he quietly admitted it was very likely running a touch over standard boost too. It was feisty

Re: Someone had a bad day...
Wonderful hearing someone drone on about the an F40......who has neither driven or owned one.
Re: Someone had a bad day...
Cheers - you’ve saved me bothering even to click the video thenRich B wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 6:10 amtbf, he does open with this fact and states that his own opinion is worthless because of this.
His last garage video about how fuels differ was one I did watch. It was a guest from the industry who was revealing all. And I posted on PH about how it was utterly vacuous (slightly more politely). I do find his videos not exactly dense with content, but he gets to drive some interesting cars so I watch quite a few.
Re: Someone had a bad day...
I do watch the odd one (550 vs 575M grabbed me) because he does manage to get hold of some interesting cars, but 35 mins on something we all know (old cars with less tech and old tyres can be a bit snappy) is a massive waste of time.
Re: Someone had a bad day...
And yet he then goes on for 30 plus minutes. This should have been a 1 minute video. ...... my opinion is worthless.....goodbye and have a nice day.Rich B wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 6:10 amtbf, he does open with this fact and states that his own opinion is worthless because of this.

You didn’t have to watch it! he clearly signposted his position right at the beginning and you chose to stick with it!SSO wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:30 pmAnd yet he then goes on for 30 plus minutes. Yeh I don't mind him either. I'm not as much a fan of the full 30 minute waffle sessions but I would not say his opinion is worthless given the range of models he's driven (and owns).Rich B wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:31 pmYou didn’t have to watch it! he clearly signposted his position right at the beginning and you chose to stick with it!SSO wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:30 pmAnd yet he then goes on for 30 plus minutes. Re: Someone had a bad day...
I got about 5 minutes into JayEmm's vid before I lost interest
Shame his insurance company said no to him driving an F40 and F50 though.
I wonder how easy it is to spin a 959 off the road in comparison to the F40?

Re: Someone had a bad day...
I'm amazed it took someone this long to post up the Hamilton mafia don picture.
When it first popped up last week I had to check it wasn't a Sniff Petrol special.
Didn't take Jeremy long....
