Re: What phone?
A couple of the kids in my son's class (Yr4) have had them for 2-3 years now. Absolute madness imo, but looking at the parents I'm not surprised. The same are also gaming online as far as I know.
Re: What phone?
And if only if were just one app. I've got...
- ClassCharts, which our daughter also needs access to, alongside all the Google school stuff her school uses.
- EduLink One
- WisePay
And for the younger one in Junior school we've also got
- ParentMail
- Seesaw
though he doesn't need access to those ones.
Not to mention the damn Facebook and WhatsApp groups.
Left over crest; tightens.

Yup. And emails, ParentPay (at least both schools use that), the other school app, etc.

This is the worry isn't it, you only need one kid in the group to have parents who are either not tech savvy enough or simply don't give a crap to provide an un-managed phone and that phone will inevitably be crowded around to look at all sorts of unpleasant shit.DeskJockey wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 5:47 pm
His is as locked down as I can make it, but there's still far too much that we can't control. He's good with it, and knows we check his messages/activity, but some of his peers clearly have access to media unsuitable for their age and that's scary.

Yup. Nothing you can do about it except to try to educate them and tell them they can ask about anything without fear.duncs500 wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:37 pmThis is the worry isn't it, you only need one kid in the group to have parents who are either not tech savvy enough or simply don't give a crap to provide an un-managed phone and that phone will inevitably be crowded around to look at all sorts of unpleasant shit.DeskJockey wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 5:47 pm

Dodge the white dog poo, explore deeper the bushes, and past the random items of clothing that always seemed dumped in the bushes too
