Also we are older, I once got a 02:00 ferry from the IOM, did 206 miles in exactly 2 hours and felt fine, I was 23.

The last time I came back from Scotland I was doing around 95, in a more relaxing car and the concentration involved made me far more tired than normal.

Driving fast takes it out of me, although track driving is physically harder I think an hour driving quick on the road is more mentally draining by a long shot.

I got my dates wrong, the France trip was more like 2006, but deffo that era. Back then I felt genuinely relaxed knowing there were no speed cameras along that route and the only risk was gambling on no police being present.

These days I’m simply too scared of losing my licence. I think I got flashed by a camera last week at 23mph. I mean FFS if I get 3 points from that I can’t take a single risk on the motorway. My speed is capped at 77mph.

Speed cameras don’t bother me, although they are getting ever more inconvenient- I believe we have almost as many speed cameras as the entire USA, which when you compare how many fewer miles of roads we have it’s a bit crazy.

I think the worst thing in recent times is the Police breaking off from BMW. Now they seem to drive any car undercover. Been pulled over twice now in the last year.

I also got flashed at 23 or 24 at the end of last year but never got a penalty. The first Limehouse link camera is another stupid one which flashes you at 33 mph but never got a ticket for that either.
How about not having a sig at all?

Fitted the Garmin Dashcam Mini 3 and gave it a quick runout. Clearly I need to adjust the positioning of it, but quality seems ok for the price.

Viewing the original clips here I can make out enough detail in terms of number plate, who's driving etc. Looks pretty clear at night too.

Cheers,

Mike.
