That AX is great. I wonder if it was parked nose-first in a barn which was open at the back? The way the plastic skirts and bumpers have faded so much on the sides and rear must mean they've seen rather more UV than the front since I'm sure they're all the same plastic.

It will be an absolute hoot to drive, and doesn't look like it needs much work to pass an MOT.

Front arches look super-faded too though - it's only the front bumper that is less-so. :geek: Which made me think
a/ it's a slightly different material
b/ it's been replaced

I always wanted one of these during sixth form to stand out from all the Novas/Fiestas.

Polo G40 was top of my list until I tried to get an insurance quote.

Bonnet looks like it's been repainted, so you're probably right. I'm just amazed how much the other plastics have faded really.

Back in the day I'd always have chosen a 205 XS over this - same engine, a little heavier, but I love the 205. But the AX is quite a bit lighter and I never actually drove one.

I think, looking at the few discoloured patches on the front, it’s been colour coded at some point and something has caused the front to come off. The others look too even to be faded.

Be thankful, absolute death traps, we used to get them in the body shop to repair and it was a nightmare as what metal there was was so thin the guys could weld to it. I lost 2 mates in a head on collision with a MK2 Fiesta. The Fiesta driver walked away.

You might be right - it is quite evenly faded. Here's another which has faded in a much less even way, but to a similar light grey in places:

I'm sure there's a simple way to get another 100+bhp out of that V8.

One of my mates had one. It was so light I was able to push it about 100m while it was in gear with the handbrake on

I had a 1l AX as my first car and was a Citroen fan, so naturally I wanted one of these as well! They were around 700kg weren't they?

My friend had a 1.0 litre 5 door Citroen AX Splash.

When going down the parkway I could open both rear doors if I sat in the middle and it meant he couldn’t hit 70 😂

At the time there was a black and green special edition. A couple of white ones and a dull red one. All abused by apprentices. You would pull away in second and light the tyres up to do an impressive rolling burnout.
