Honestly, given there have been reports of hay blocking the suspension air compressor in the bed because it's not well filtered enough causing it to overheat and fail, and there were loose gas cans in the back...

...I can more easily believe that they weren't well secured or sealed, leaked into the compressor/compressor sucked petrol vapour in, and started a fire, than I can believe that even a low grade terrorist thought that a bed full of fireworks, gas cans and camping gear was a good idea.

At the moment no-one has claimed responsibility, no-one has made a big statement directly because of it. Which is quite unusual. Terrorists aren't usually so embarrassed by their attempts that they disavow responsibility for an incident that's getting massive amounts of global press, generally speaking.

This could still quite realistically be an accident caused by a dumb yahoo who thought that a covered bed would let them sneak illegal fireworks into Nevada, as they wanted to have a bonfire and fireworks show in the middle of the desert - and with the information currently available, that's where I'm sticking for now.

If a fire caused an general power failure, the Cybertruck has no internal door handles...and you need to access an emergency drawstring hidden behind an unmarked panel, because Musk insisted on there being no interior door handles for aesthetic reasons.

I had considered a false flag to enable Trump to crush the extreme left (aka anyone slightly more left leaning than Literal Hitler, etc), but we've seen the sort of people who love the Cybertruck be plenty stupid enough to do something like this entirely by accident, so that's still my top pick for the cause of this as it stands.

I don't disagree that it seems like a pointless idea (to make the primary door release mechanism electronically actuated), and like I said, I'm no fan of Musk or the Cybertruck

Compounding the problem with the Cybertruck is the toughened glass, meaning it might not be possible to push the window out in the event of being stuck in the car

The flipside of all this is that some Tesla owners seem to complain that passengers use the manual release "by mistake" instead of the 'proper' (electric) door release button - so maybe some find the manual option more intuitive than the one they're supposed to use

But the user manual is at least accessible in the Cybertruck the main screen/system - mine's tucked away in a box at home - sod all use there

People have died after being stuck in other Teslas that have caught on fire for the same reason I think - not just the Cybertruck

In case anyone things the two are being mixed up. That, much like them both renting through Turo, is likely just coincidence.

(and yeah, re the doors, it's not the first time someone's suggested that someone has died as a direct result of the choice of door lock management - but it's yet to be taken to court and be blamed directly as the cause for someone dying; ie they'd have lived if they could have opened the door)
