Re: Trump
This wasn’t an organised attack, it was pretty lame. Only the driver died, and there was no property damage ? They could have at least rammed it into the lobby or something.

Re: Trump
You’d have thought they would at least have opened the doors and load cover before detonating unless it was designed to be symbolic rather than cause as much damage / injury as possible.
Cheers, Harry
Re: Trump
Honestly, given there have been reports of hay blocking the suspension air compressor in the bed because it's not well filtered enough causing it to overheat and fail, and there were loose gas cans in the back...
...I can more easily believe that they weren't well secured or sealed, leaked into the compressor/compressor sucked petrol vapour in, and started a fire, than I can believe that even a low grade terrorist thought that a bed full of fireworks, gas cans and camping gear was a good idea.
At the moment no-one has claimed responsibility, no-one has made a big statement directly because of it. Which is quite unusual. Terrorists aren't usually so embarrassed by their attempts that they disavow responsibility for an incident that's getting massive amounts of global press, generally speaking.
This could still quite realistically be an accident caused by a dumb yahoo who thought that a covered bed would let them sneak illegal fireworks into Nevada, as they wanted to have a bonfire and fireworks show in the middle of the desert - and with the information currently available, that's where I'm sticking for now.

Re: Trump
False flag. Driver was already dead and the truck was driven by remote control in an exercise designed to hit all the headlines without actually doing any damage so that donold can play victim again and crank up the stupid even more.

Re: Trump
@Beany - but if a genuine accidental fire started in the bed, wouldn't you expect the driver to get out, pretty bloody pronto, knowing it was full of fireworks ?

Re: Trump
Not the term I'd be using. We're heading for at best for years of distractions and mock outrage with nothing much actually happening (apart from ever more climate change impacts obviously), at worst it'll define the next century.

If a fire caused an general power failure, the Cybertruck has no internal door handles...and you need to access an emergency drawstring hidden behind an unmarked panel, because Musk insisted on there being no interior door handles for aesthetic reasons.Sundayjumper wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:39 am @Beany - but if a genuine accidental fire started in the bed, wouldn't you expect the driver to get out, pretty bloody pronto, knowing it was full of fireworks ?
I had considered a false flag to enable Trump to crush the extreme left (aka anyone slightly more left leaning than Literal Hitler, etc), but we've seen the sort of people who love the Cybertruck be plenty stupid enough to do something like this entirely by accident, so that's still my top pick for the cause of this as it stands.

FFS. I was not aware of that. That is utterly funking retarded.Beany wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 1:16 pmIf a fire caused an general power failure, the Cybertruck has no internal door handles...and you need to access an emergency drawstring hidden behind an unmarked panel, because Musk insisted on there being no interior door handles for aesthetic reasons.Sundayjumper wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:39 am @Beany - but if a genuine accidental fire started in the bed, wouldn't you expect the driver to get out, pretty bloody pronto, knowing it was full of fireworks ?

Ha, yeah, you have to pull a rubber cover out of the bottom of a door pocket or something and there’s a cable hidden underneath!
Cheers, Harry

As much as I don't like Musk/Cybertruck, that's not quite trueintegrale_evo wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:30 pm Ha, yeah, you have to pull a rubber cover out of the bottom of a door pocket or something and there’s a cable hidden underneath!
That's the instruction to open a rear door, the front door release is much more conventional:

Re: Trump
Yes, it's very clear that's actually a door release in an emergency. Oh, wait, it's completely unmarked...
It's only useful if you know it exists, and as the cybertrucks don't come with a paper manual, presumably if you're in one that has smoke filling the cabin, you're expected to use google to find out how to get out of it...
It's only a matter of time before it kills someone - if it hasn't already:
https://www.latimes.com/california/stor ... e-students
An absurdly dangerous design choice.

Re: Trump
And it was apparently a Turo rental. So the driver might not have been familiar with it at all.
Re: Trump
I don't disagree that it seems like a pointless idea (to make the primary door release mechanism electronically actuated), and like I said, I'm no fan of Musk or the CybertruckBeany wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 5:50 pm Yes, it's very clear that's actually a door release in an emergency. Compounding the problem with the Cybertruck is the toughened glass, meaning it might not be possible to push the window out in the event of being stuck in the car
The flipside of all this is that some Tesla owners seem to complain that passengers use the manual release "by mistake" instead of the 'proper' (electric) door release button - so maybe some find the manual option more intuitive than the one they're supposed to use
But the user manual is at least accessible in the Cybertruck the main screen/system - mine's tucked away in a box at home - sod all use there

People have died after being stuck in other Teslas that have caught on fire for the same reason I think - not just the Cybertruck
Re: Trump
For clarity
New Orleans attack was done by a former armed forces/veteran
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn4x884 ... daddb#post
The driver of the Vegas cybertruck was the green beret
https://edition.cnn.com/2025/01/02/us/t ... index.html
In case anyone things the two are being mixed up. That, much like them both renting through Turo, is likely just coincidence.
(and yeah, re the doors, it's not the first time someone's suggested that someone has died as a direct result of the choice of door lock management - but it's yet to be taken to court and be blamed directly as the cause for someone dying; ie they'd have lived if they could have opened the door)
