My 2 kids were opening their stockings and playing at 04:00 and tried to convince my wife that they were sure she said 04:00 was acceptable .

Great day, 9 of us, parents using a mega quest was funny, all the food arrived hot and on time, everyone in food comas after dinner and Lego galore.

Child 2 got up at 5.45 to look at Santa pile (not very big now they are 13 and 16) and fully expected to be dragged out of bed by 6.30am, a pre negotiated earliest wak up call.

They then got up at 8.45 so that was a score.

Had a really nice day, managed a slow 5k which is handy as I am signed up to a chartity mad event in late April.

I did not get many presents as my wife left them at her parents! my kids got me sound cancelling headphones, when they show me how they work I can sit and read and be oblivious to "traitors" or "GBBO"

Hope everyone had a lovely time, looks like they did.

I heard the kids tumble down the stairs at 6.40, then the sounds of the TV and Fortnite. Didn't get up until 8.30, so calling it a win.

Kids are 17 and 19 now and the youngest woke us up at 11.30am! Subsequently Xmas Dinner became Xmas Tea at 4.30pm

My daughter is usually the early bird but the door bell footage revealed why she was still in bed. Coming in at 4.30 am smashed shouting Merry Xmas Motherfuckers as she's walking up the drive

My wife was far less stressed after a lay in and no rush cooking so a huge win and probably something we'll do again.

I got that Denby set as wedding presents for my first marriage. Christmas was about the only time we ever used it.

Usual Japanese stuff for us this year

We went non-trad and low-workload-for-Mrs-mik this year.

Ordered food from Eusebi Deli in Glasgow - restaurant is very good so it seemed safe. Huge lasagne, huge aubergine parmigiana (so?), olives, picked veg, and a 10cm thick focaccia the size of a cooker hob. Plus some pigs in blankets on the side.

It were great.

Happy Christmas you miserable bunch. Hope you all had a great couple of days. Our son was up at 6.50 on Christmas Day which I thought was bad - apparently not!

Then some 7 hour boil in the bag rib of beef



Bit unappetising looking pre-sear (and yes - we don't have a gas hob in this house)
