We don't seem to have a thread dedicated to cooing at random property, which feels like an oversight
This afternoon I've been distracted by mixed woodland/pasture land around the UK, like this one. It seems like there's loads of hoops to jump through before even having a vague change of being able to live on a site like that, but it's still a beautiful thing to behold for £120k
If you’re actually interested it’s quite simple for shorter term living. Legally you can camp for a month in your woods. If someone reports you the council typically take 3 months to investigate, then you get a letter saying you have a month to remove your camper/tiny house/caravan, then you get a second warning letter again saying you have a month, then a few months after that you finally get an enforcement which you can appeal to waste more time.
So yeah, a year is easy. And if you visit an allotted woodland and look closely you’ll be surprised to see how many people are living in them since covid.
Permanent structures are more difficult now as the 4 year rule has been changed to 10 years. But if you’ve got a secure woodland which is fenced you’re pretty safe.
And I wouldn’t bother going down the legal planning route because the council happily take your money and laugh you out the door!

I'm plotting ideas for getting out of London in the next few years so that's interesting. I've been looking at both woodland and agricultural land, from what I understand having >12.5 acres of agricultural land makes it easier to slowly move onto the land via having some breeding animals, building barns etc etc.
@ZedLeg a small piece of woodland that you don't want to do anything with aside from letting it grow and camp on for a few weekends a year can be ridiculously cheap.
The Pet Shop Boys' old studio is for sale, this place is absolutely amazing, I love every part of it. Also in a good location to live, because Whitecross St has a very local feel to it, and Clerkenwell is quieter at the weekend so retains less hectic feeling than many parts of London. Also close to Clerkenwell County Court in case you ever end up in court with your neighbour

What's the point? It is central London, it is one big traffic jam. I like the house, but (ignoring the can't-pay-£6m) I don't want to live that far in.

There's alot going on in that studio, blimey Think if I bought that place, I'd need to buy a deprevation tank, or another flat with Scandinavian or Japanese minimalism to counteract the visual overload of that place!
I'm tempted to continue driving past Battersea power station next time to see that. I guess the floor plan for all the apartments must be like that?
Lighterman Towers has a similarly stupid design but is even more overlooked.

I haven’t been in any of the others - this might be unique with the corner bath. It’s a 5 bed duplex with 3 staff bedrooms. The master bathroom must be about 250sqft.
