UCAS Process

Post by dinny_g »

If you know EXACTLY what you want to study and EXACTLY where you want to study and EXACTLY when you want to start then fine...

Otherwise, it's bashing square pegs in round holes.

And the school's not helping by browbeating everyone into applying so their numbers look good

I'm at the other end of the process to this, we've just done the application for reception. So I'm just going to use this thread to moan about that! ;) I'm just shocked that in this day and age so many schools (round me at least) have a religious elements to the whole process. Many of the schools have acceptance criteria that priorise things related to whether you attend church or are baptised etc over whether it's even your nearest school.

Most of the decent schools without religious affiliations fill all their places with siblings and nearest kids, and are oversubscribed. All seems like a bit of a nightmare really. Luckily our nearest school is half decent and we should get in there assuming this year is similar to the last one. I think we'll just get in before all the big new housing estates finish shooting up, no idea what's going to happen then... there's no new schools being built.
