I’d love to be a fly on the wall when Kimi is negotiating

He's announced it himself on Instagram.

I like that - Kimi gets to be a no. 1 driver and prove he’s got what it takes, Le Clerc gets to drive a top car.

Kimi has a two year contract at Sauber. He'll be 40 at the end of the second season and will have the most starts.

I had a bit of a laugh when I saw Maurizio Arrivabene saying Kimi played a decisive role in the team's growth and was, at the same time, always a great team player. That’s one way of saying he was a good at being sebs bitch

Further rumours on the twitters that he’s not being paid by Sauber but getting some equity in the team in return.

I wonder how true it is that Kimi gives very good technical feedback when it comes to car development, maybe he can push Sauber up the grid, maybe Ferrari will go back to being mediocre. Hope Ricciardo and him have some good battles in the midfield.

Knowing nothing about anything to do with F1, I stumbled across Vettel's interview and laptime on TG on a recent Youtube safari.

Seemed like a thoroughly decent and humorous chap to me. He's not liked though, is he?

Vettels fans seem inconsistent. He has one or two bad races and they all just vanish, then Hamilton has a bad race and they all pop up again.

He made a tit of himself in Baku a few years back though.

Vettel has a split personality, seems to be a nice guy out of the car but a total cunt when driving. His post Monza qualifying reaction said it all really. And his post Monza race interview. It’s clear he wants to emulate Schumacher by having the whole team working just for him as number 1 driver as seen in his Red Bull days and prompt exit once he was pushed around a bit by Ricciardo.

Problem is unlike Schumacher he doesn’t know how to crash in the correct bit of the opponents cars, another problem is it’s pretty frowned upon to keep crashing nowadays, another problem is the world is more politically correct when it comes to team orders and finally he’s too much of a nice guy out of the car to pull off the bad ass image he seems to desire.

Vettel has always been "protected". He was the golden child at Red Bull (Multi 21 et al) and Ferrari have always had a number 1 driver and the number 1 drivers biatch. The exception to this was when Ricciardo kicked his arse in 2014 with 238 points to 167. This might have been a smart move by Vettel to activate a break clause in his contract, though.

Generally, it seems that Vettel cracks under pressure, unlike Hamilton or Alonso.

TBH, I'm still yet to be convinced that Vettel is a tier 1 driver despite his 4WCs. I've got a sneaking suspicion that if Ferrari allow it, Leclerc will hand him his ass next season.

When he isn’t winning but isn’t because he knows he doesn’t stand a chance of winning he’s genuinely funny- go look at the Rosberg Hamilton press conferences and he was always trying to wind the pair of them up. When he is in contention for winning but isn’t his bottom lip comes out and he behaves like a child who’s had his favourite toy taken off him

Vettel comes across great out the car when he isn’t fighting for a win or a championship. When he’s got a chance he seems to expect it to all go his way - like with the RBR dominance - so when it doesn’t he goes into melt down. Crashing into Lewis all the time* is clear evidence of this.

*If you disagree go watch his meltdown in Baku where they weren’t even racing when he crashed and the last race at Monday’s, and stop living under a rock ffs.

Kimi is a great development driver apparently. I wonder if part of the deal with Sauber is to give them a development driver and known quantity and put a Ferrari young driver into the other seat, displacing Erickson (who must be giving blowies to the team owner (who's also Sweedish) to keep his seat).

Did everyone see the news that C4 next year will only be showing highlights except for the British GP, which they'll show live in full?
