i saw a bluey green one on my local high st and was very underwhelmed. but seeing it in white on a snowy road, it suddenly becomes one of my favourite cars. Top work mate!

It wouldn't surprise me if Mike's is the only Dakar purchased in the UK that's being used as intended out in the wild. Deeply cool 8-)

Not strictly mine but its the car I race so its part of my fleet in a way.....i'm about to start a 3 month project to rebuild this very fast but unreliable race car.

Complete stripdown and rebuild with new wiring loom and electronics package including paddle shift and ABS and a few tweaks to the engine to release a few more horses too.

Last complete race I did I was a second a lap quicker than the BTCC around silverstone national, its a serious piece of kit.

Looks great Mike, good to see you're enjoying the car as it should be!

Kind of reminds me of the time when I was passing through Austria (Back when I used to use my cars) and it started progressively snowing more as I went up the pass.

As quickly as the snow started settling, some Unimogs with snow plow attachments appeared and cleared the way...that's Austrian efficiency for you!

Some knobbly tyres like you have on your Dakar would have given me a little more confidence, as it was I drove at a depressingly slow speed

I know there's at least one other in the Highlands, owned by someone out in the Western Isles who's had it since new and is also their daily driver.
Cheers,

Mike.

My sone and I saw one with decals and rood rack etc and it was immaculate. It looks far cooler without the decals.

It is now my son's favourite car and indeed, he bought a matchbox one ths very evening. *

*this is immensely pleasing as other than "mini cars" and "Landrovers" from when he was tiny, he has never really given two hoots about cars.

What colour is the D4YKR plated one? I like the look of that.

Is it the same tone as this (spotted at a car meet in July). Don't know what it is called? Creamy Bakelite? :?

Edit: ignore - I've now viewed them side-by-side on different screens. Not even close.

If you have the Dakar in an urban area and don’t go off road you still bought the pothole/speed bump version. I say this because I’d love one and it would probably never go off road

Could be Geyser Grey (Paint to Sample). The plate is awful though; if you can't get D4KAR then don't bodge it

The decals and roof racks don't look nearly as good as the more simply specced cars. And white is absolutely perfect on Mike's car.
