That is the inconvenient truth of it all.

I thought X was right wing leaning to the extreme once Elon took over but I guess he just removed all the filters and that it is truly representative of America.
I shall remain an optimist that we won’t get into WW3 as that didn’t happen last time.
I’m also off to B&Q later to buy some things to renovate the old bunker.
How about not having a sig at all?

It absolutely proves that if you only listen to people like yourself then you never get a sense of reality until moments like this.

Also, the media only project one view which is not the actual fact, bit like Brexit. You have to think ahead here about Trump/Musk/Farage impact on British politics moving forward. A lot here won't like the direction but I will

All I can hope for now is that the UK drastically increases defence spending.

It's actually going to be interesting to see what colleagues say about this. Not surprisingly, Defence employees are generally right-leaning, but I'm not sure they're that far, and will be UK/Europe security aware. Donald has repeatedly said he wants to kill NATO. That's a phenomenally big deal here.

RR jumped up noticeably, they are well know for big drops and gains though. I don’t expect them to be as high as they are by the end of the day although stay hopeful.

Does anyone think the US is going to take fluoride out of the water supply?

Yeah, I can’t imagine anyone who’s job is around defence or diplomacy is particularly happy this morning.

Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if they put something in at a federal level to stop states ruling that people have to be vaccinated to go into schools etc as well.

Ukraine is fucked. He'll cut US funding to Ukraine and Russia will be emboldened and end up having a go at the Baltic states which will mean we're at war in the next 5 years.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Analysis suggests that we will all be worse off, but at least all those chemtrails in the sky will be a thing of the past. You're still thinking about the bad news aren't you?

Is Trump more likely to feather his own nest, pardon himself and retire to play golf, or try to extend the term to become president forever? I have no idea which is more likely as a motivation. He does seem to enjoy being president so I suspect the latter.

When you move everything else to one side, we know that Trump is quite happy to bend the instruments of democracy to suit his agenda. Even if you say that nothing too crazy happened last time, he made lasting change to things like the supreme court, and you can expect that things will go further with his new mandate.

It's very difficult to predict what will happen and whether he will fundamentally alter the political structure in terms of continuing after this term, but even if he doesn't there will be changes to all sorts of other things in terms of the justice system and the media which will have a lasting impact on US politics. I don't see the Democrats winning the next election either on that basis.

I think we've all seen the power of social media and misinformation in the modern era, and that will potentially be a model for other regimes to follow. I find myself contemplating free will, whether that was always an illusion or not, the illusion certainly seems more crass and obvious than ever.
