In the case of the Superb it's simply a pretty crude system, like I've found on every VAG car I've driven with it. There are instances when you're trying to pull out, on to a roundabout say, where it's actually downright dangerous it's so lethargic.

Never bothered turning it off in the F20 1-series we had before though - it seemed to work incredibly intuitively, and seemlessly.

I've only done this a couple of times but didn't notice any sproinging. Just a message saying it had reverted.

You should not have coolant on the dash. You possibly have a leak.

M1 for normal driving back in the day, M2 when I was alone and the roads were quiet.

If the road is smoothe then yeah you won’t notice. If there is a bump or three - I expect you will.

That's disappointing. Hopefully they've improved it on later versions as the Superb is one of the possible Galaxy replacements (in due time).

Yeah it seems fine in the M135i, to the extent that I only really turn it off if I'm heading for a series of roundabouts in close succession that have annoying timing, where it has caught me out, but it's only been a mild inconvenience, never actually annoying or dangerous.

And I usually do that by going into Sport+ anyway as it has a sharper bite on the step-off than comfort so if I do need to stop, it's easier to zip through them when clear, etc.

Not in my experience Alex. You can deal with it at lights etc by just giving the wheel a slight movement to fire it up. The issue is more that it's overly keen ime to switch off at low speeds. So if you're approaching a junction and might slow to a couple of mph it'll switch off, leaving it then floundering when you want to go again.

TBH if it was my car I'd code it out, and I'd also code in a better DSG map. The DSG is far too keen to get in as high a gear as possible, which again can catch you out in certain circumstances, like going for a gap - it's another VAG-wide "thing" ime. You can get around that by leaving in in Sport mode, which I think a lot of owners code it to be in by default.

It's two relatively minor gripes in what is otherwise an incredibly capable car.

The part in bold is important.

In a rental Alfa I had once it insisted on switching the engine off just as I went to touch the accelerator.
In a Superb it started with such a shake it sounded like a broken tractor.

In others it’s just been very slow to react so you compensate by putting your foot down a bit more and then look hamfisted and stupid.

Well I can’t see fuel on the dash, that’s just dangerous.

Ioniq6

Another lane assist hater here. First few days I left it to see if it was improved over the Niro. Twice it tried to steer me into parked vehicles. It goes off.

Speed limit warning - another one that can FRO. Bong for every posted limit change it spots (and some it doesn't) then four bongs to warn you if you're above that limit, then another four if you ignore that warning etc etc. Fk all the way off.

WOuldn't mind so much if the software wasn't slower than a previous gen iPhone. Takes a full 15 secs until the touch screen will respond, then its a left swipe, click on car menu, click on warnings, click on speed warning "off".

EU can suck my balls frankly.

Civic

Get in, remove steering wheel lock, start and go..

e46 M3 - DSC off (or as i called it - the disco button. It was crap if you left dsc on - the merest hint of lack of traction and it just cumulative the power fully.

e92 M3 - M button (programmed for MDM on) - still the best, least intrusive stability control system i’ve ever had.

M2 - M1 button (programmed with better throttle response) I rarely go for the full M2 mode as sideways happens VERY quickly if you press M2.

I’ve driven a Polestar 2 lots over the last year and I’ll say this about it; its safety systems are very discreet. Where you normally get a wheel grab, you instead get an increase in resistance, there are no audible warnings (new Chinese cars love this shit). I use keyless entry, boot open with foot wiggle and to start it, you just select gear and it moves. Plus it’s OS is Android, so music/podcasts start before it’s even in gear.. as a family hatchback, it’s pretty unbeatable
Cheers,

Ian
