Re: Harry’s Garage
If he hadn't sold the Emira he wouldn't have lost £28k
I'd say the hard cash out of your pocket is far more noticeable than depreciation of a car.

Re: Harry’s Garage
I also assume that the spend on 'maintaining' the old cars is written off 100% against tax and the vat reclaimed if he keeps them in a ltd company with youtube as the revenue stream.IanF wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 12:26 pm There’s a difference between spending and losing £28k though. Plus he got YouTube revenue from those two cars, and he seemed to enjoy the videos he made where he tinkers (well, admittedly someone else does the oily stuff), whilst the Lotus didn’t seem anything special or interesting to me, or him.
Re: Harry’s Garage
It’s more surprising that he didn’t expect that much depreciation. It wasn’t a limited edition car, it had thousands of preorders, so you’d obviously end up with an excess of supply once production got fully underway.
How about not having a sig at all?

FWIW his channel did 2.9m views last month and assuming he's on a strong RPM (mainly because his audience are likely to be people with a bit of spare cash and therefore a strong target for advertisers) then he could be getting anywhere between £5-10k+ per month in ad reveneue as a YouTube partner.

Just had a look and he has a Patreon account linked.. only 11 members but it’s £54.79 a month, so £600pcm extra there. Maybe that pays his fuel cost? I’m genuinely curious what he posts in that group now (not £55 curious mind!) as that seems quite a high monthlyGavster wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 3:14 pm FWIW his channel did 2.9m views last month and assuming he's on a strong RPM (mainly because his audience are likely to be people with a bit of spare cash and therefore a strong target for advertisers) then he could be getting anywhere between £5-10k+ per month in ad reveneue as a YouTube partner.

Re: Harry’s Garage
That's a lot of money for a Patreon! Very curious what's in there too.
He's obviously paying someone to film, edit and post his videos too, but at one video a week that's only a couple of days work for someone at most.

I thought it was usually his wife / son who usually did the filming?

is his current standing, IE how many members they have, how many posts, and the income they're making from that.11 paid members 110 posts $70.81/month
For example, Adrians digital basement, that I'm not subbed to, shows
That's where it shows the members, posts and income (if they expose it)2,454 members 496 posts $8,244/month
See Graphtreon for Metcalfe:

And Adrians Digital Basement:

Bit of crap UI on Patreons front.

Re: Harry’s Garage
No problem!
Anyway, based on that I guess he doesn't do much with his patreon, from an 'exclusive content' perspective.
Oddly, I've got a chap who's patreon is basically almost entirely exclusive content, and some of it gets released three months later to the public, which is a different way of doing it but it means the guy can do literally exactly what he wants for his fans, without having to consider what would go down well with the general public, which is cool to see.
He's not getting rich off it but it mostly covers his bills.

Most of his Patreons are called William?

Re: Harry’s Garage
If I'm paying someone £55 per month I'd want exclusive content of the 18+ kind ,with bottles of baby oil.

I think you're thinking of a different "pay to support the artist" website.Mito Man wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 7:10 pm If I'm paying someone £55 per month I'd want exclusive content of the 18+ kind ,with bottles of baby oil.

Re: Harry’s Garage
It was a bit of a rambling video. For the cars which aren't limited runs, I wonder if the percentage depreciation is actually any different from how it always used to be.
My only surprise about the Emira was that he was surprised at the depreciation. He sold it very quickly though so would it not then level out like these things always do?

Did we get to the bottom of this - isn't it £55 per month total not per patron?IanF wrote: Mon Nov 04, 2024 3:45 pmJust had a look and he has a Patreon account linked.. only 11 members but it’s £54.79 a month, so £600pcm extra there.
