Randomness
Re: Randomness
The black Japanese / Haitian girl who won was not correctly pigmentally depicted in the far corner of that cartoon.

Seriously, it must be exhausting living life permanently looking for triggers.

Re: Randomness
If you can't see what's racist about that cartoon, there is legitimately something wrong with you. It is genuinely appalling.

Re: Randomness
Aah, the blonde cartoon opponent. Gotcha.
Re: Randomness
About as tiring as engaging in bad faith arguments for the sake of making yourself feel better than some guy on the internet I’d guess.JLv3.0 wrote: Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:36 pm The black Japanese / Haitian girl who won was not correctly pigmentally depicted in the far corner of that cartoon.

Ok - race(ism) to one side, as there's no end game for anyone here - surely we all agree Serena Williams' behaviour was repulsive?

Yep, fair enough, my comment was uncalled for and I apologise.ZedLeg wrote: Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:42 pmAbout as tiring as engaging in bad faith arguments for the sake of making yourself feel better than some guy on the internet I’d guess.JLv3.0 wrote: Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:36 pm The black Japanese / Haitian girl who won was not correctly pigmentally depicted in the far corner of that cartoon.

See my post above. I thought her behaviour was pathetic.JLv3.0 wrote: Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:50 pm Ok - race(ism) to one side, as there's no end game for anyone here - surely we all agree Serena Williams' behaviour was repulsive?
Re: Randomness
I read it and nodded along in agreement Mik. A shocking way to behave for someone who is an idol of their sport.

Re: Randomness
Totally agree. I don't see anything racist or sexist in how she was treated and she behaved terribly.

Re: Randomness
She was throwing around the sexism allegations! As if the male tennis players get more leeway in answering back to the umpire! Shameful.
Re: Randomness
Apology from Fenati - whatevs mate, you could have killed a fellow racer at 140 mph:
'"I apologise to the world of sport.
This morning, with a lucid mind, I wish it had just been a bad dream.
I think about and think back to those moments, I made a disgraceful gesture, I was not a man!
A man would have finished the race and then he would have gone to Race Direction to try and get some justice for the preceding incident.
I shouldn’t have reacted to provocation.
The criticisms are correct and I understand the animosity towards me.
I want to apologise to everyone who believed in me and all those who felt hurt by my action.
A horrible image of me and of the sport has come out.
I'm not like that, people who know me well know that!
In my career, I've always been a just rider. Last year I was one of the few who was not penalised, I have never put someone else's life in jeopardy, on the contrary, I have always maintained that there are riders on the track who are dangeous because of their riding style.
It's true, unfortunately I have an impulsive character, but my intention was certainly not to hurt a rider like me rather I wanted to make him understand that what he was doing was dangerous and how I could also have done something similar to what he did to me!
I do not want to justify myself, I know that my actions were not justifiable, I just want to apologise to everyone.
Now I will have time to reflect and clear my head."'

Re: Randomness
Hmm, I'd seen what was obviously an edited down version of his statement which made it seem reasonable, but now I've read it in full, it's just weasel words where he tries to blame the person he could've killed or injured.
