Could we up the stakes and demand (unreasonably, and with no way to enforce) that for each page of natter the budget increments by £1000 until he's bought something?

Nah, it'll be a pimped out slammed T6 then he decides he doesn't need a Lotus after all and keeps the BMWMarv wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 8:30 am I'm waiting for this thread to go quiet, fall off the radar, then for Rich to put a reply on the Your fleet running reports thread that he's bought a Dacia Duster![]()

Deffo not standard. I'd want to put the stereo back in at least.....not sure what that is that it's replaced it with. Part of it has yellow light on the interior that says next to it "Clown Test"duncs500 wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 5:53 amMarket is slow, you'd get money off that if you did some hard bargaining. Looks nice, defo worth a look IMO. There is some odd looking bits on the interior, but I've never looked round an S160, so maybe they're supposed to be there.Rich B wrote: Tue Oct 15, 2024 9:13 pm At the moment, i’m slightly obsessed with the Victory alloys (and therefore the sport 160). Asking prices seem pretty varied - there’s a lovely one in Basingstoke that i can’t decide if it’s outside my budget or a decent investment worth stretching. i can’t help think i’d have as much fun in a £15-20k 111S and have the cash in my pocket.

Yeah, that ain’t happening! I have standards, i’ve never even owned (as in my name on the V5) a car with rear doors because i deem that as “giving up”.Marv wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 8:30 am I'm waiting for this thread to go quiet, fall off the radar, then for Rich to put a reply on the Your fleet running reports thread that he's bought a Dacia Duster![]()

I know this thread has and will go on a bit, but it’s very nice to have other knowledgable people involved in the continual and endless car buying decisions that go on in my brain!

Ignore them. A thread musing about Elises and Exiges... by far the best thread on the forum.Rich B wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 9:10 am I know this thread has and will go on a bit, but it’s very nice to have other knowledgable people involved in the continual and endless car buying decisions that go on in my brain!

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
When i get the van, that’ll have rear doors too. i didn’t say my rule was very good!!
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I think as long as you own at least one car without rear doors that is a more practical rule to live by.

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Its the fire extinguisher control box. That and the red button on the right that sets it off are the non standard parts of the interior. The rest of it is as it left the factory by the look of it. Those seats are quite rare as they weren't in all 160's and uncomfortable according to the forums, although I'd take everything they say with a pinch of salt.Matty wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 8:50 amDeffo not standard. 160's are the best S1, if you're happy with an s1 then its the one that feels the most special. 111's probably a better all rounder, but they're not exactly all round cars are they.
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I thought they were standard in the S160....I always found them very comfortable but my OH at the time did call them "Lego seats" and was less keen.dan wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:07 amIts the fire extinguisher control box. My Google is letting me down though, and I vaguely recall there was a Elise 160 variant with standard seats and standard suspension?

"In June 2000 Lotus announced two versions of this car, the Sport 160 and Sport 160S and also deleted the 111S version. The former doesn't have the sports suspension, category 1 alarm or radio fitting kit as standard equipment."

Typical law monger, cutting out the clear comment in my post to try and save face - “as in my name on the V5”
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Yes the ones that just had '160' on the side had 111s seats rather than the standard s1 seats, standard suspension and a standard box.Matty wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 12:49 pmI thought they were standard in the S160....I always found them very comfortable but my OH at the time did call them "Lego seats" and was less keen.dan wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:07 amIts the fire extinguisher control box. Registered keeper does not mean owner, as stated on the V5C; your clear comment contradicted itself. Are you Boris Johnson?Rich B wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 2:18 pmTypical law monger, cutting out the clear comment in my post to try and save face - “as in my name on the V5”

I've found some more details of the differences between S160s on PH:
"First, is it a Sport 160 or a Sport 160S. There is a difference, the former having 111s seats, victory ally's and the 160 engine, an LS can and a few other bits n bobs (spoiler fared in headlights etc).
The latter has all the above, plus LSS (running at 100/110), ARB, oil cooler and lightweight seats with alcantara inserts. Also most cars have the 2nd airbox removed and are de-catted to liberate the full 160 ponies (or thereabouts). Mine was RR'd last year at 158 which I think is pretty good. The 160S is also rarer, was more expensive and commands a premium on the used market of around £500-1k I'd say due to the above."
