My opinion is the Daytona would be a lovely thing to have at first but lose it's novelty factor quite quickly.

The 430 would just feel like an inferior 458.

Whereas the Porsche is something really special even by today's standards.

Saw a blue Daytona on Friday cruising round the Cotswolds. Nice looking thing, looked quite a narrow car

Of those I've never seen a CGT.

The Daytona looks crap to my millennial eyes and my only reasoning for it remaining popular is due to an outdated tv series.

The 430 Scud already lost the greatest Ferrari V8 title due to the 458 Specialie which will be remembered as the last NA Ferrari V8.

CGT is cool.
How about not having a sig at all?

Which outdated TV series was that?

I believe he's referring to the Corvette based replicas used in Miami Vice but he drives the worst pimped Defender in the world so you really shouldn't rise to him.

Yep you're right - he's very much fallen back into the troll-posting for attention rut, so I think foe-ing him is the answer.

Liked this today:

Supercharged K Series Elise - £15k seems good value.

Agree with Mark, the CGT is truly special. Loved the ride I had in one - cheers Phil if you're on here!

Been giving it all a bit more thought. Agree with you on the Daytona. CGT certainly is something special.

On the 430, agree if it is the base model but would still take a Scuderia over the Speciale. That last generation of the F1 single clutch gearbox is wonderfully engaging to drive.

Ah you see for me it is the single clutch box that would be a killer.

I'm curious as to what the gearbox is like. I've never tried a decent automated single clutch or heard of anybody preferring one over a double before. I know that involvement was Lamborghini's reasoning with the Aventador but I always dismissed that as an excuse, especially when the Huracan came along with a double.

The Single clutch F1 gearbox in the Scuderia is very quick and has a raw edge to it that makes it really engaging to push.

SSO - gearbox-wise; did they do a software or hardware update for the Scud vs the F430?

Mark - honestly, having driven both a lot, I would say the 458 is the first “digital” Ferrari; it does have the best/last derivative of the Na V8, but it is also extremely clinical, the F430 is an analogue car. (even with an auto box. 😉) It certainly won’t flatter you if you fuck up.

CGT is shit. I tell everyone this, until I can afford one! 😂

I've been looking at 308s recently. Somehow they were never really on my radar, but the want has become quite strong now. Must not be red, though, I fear I couldn't pull that off. Silver or light blue for me please.

I’d put the 360CS over any 430.

It’s small, plenty fast enough with enough power to be fun and an amazing noise. Plus I feel you could get closer to the limits on the road where the 430was known as a big leap in performance wasn’t it ?

Due to me never wanting camping gear inside the passenger area of the ML, with a roof box and 2 dogs it’s a squeeze to get everything in there. So the thought of a bigger car isnrearing it’s head again.

A nice spec GL 19s, 500 petrol with anything but black or silver paint and a full leather dash is giving me stirrings.

But, they are all 420 diesels which is a great engine with the wrong gearbox or the 320/350 which isn’t a good enough engine for the weight, it makes the package feel cheap.

So if anyone has a GL420 with a 5 speed box conversion, midnight blue with a full leather dash then give me a call.

Apart from that I’m still lusting after my own car, parts are coming in slowly so I can start the refurb of it with Dave and get it back to as new.

I believe it was hardware otherwise F430 owners would have figured out how to upgrade the gearboxes long ago and this hasn't happened.

Agree and the 458 being very digital, hence much pre the older car.

You need to tell more people your views on the CGT, prices are still a bit too high.

MWStewart has a F430 thread running in Readers Cars on Pistonheads where he is making a Scud + from a standard F430 and has all the information on the cars you can get, is a great read.

I am sure it is interesting but not sure why you would do that. You end up with a car that is no longer a F430 (which are really good) and its not really a Scuderia.

maybe he’s more interested in the driving experience of the scud rather than the kudos of owning a real scud?

Though from other threads of his I’ve seen, he has major OCD about every single component and upgrading every bit and bolt to be the best OEM bit available. He’s done a golf and an M3 tooo.
