In some respects I can see why it's not really an issue - you shouldn't be trying to reach into the glovebox whilst the car is moving. Only really an issue therefore for passengers.

Not many storage options, so I keep my sunnies in the Evora glovebox, and therefore regularly access it whilst on the move in order to grab them.

I've never once opened the glovebox in 3 years. My gloves fit in the door bin

Not only is that glovebox button absurd but all those buttons are complete obscured by the wheel and other controls so you either have to feel for them or lean your head around to see

Not the glovebox, googled it because I figured he might be trying to make something seem stupider than it is for effect, but that is genuinely the only way to get in the glovebox

The car is not moving when he demonstrates it.

He puts it in Drive. So if he's not going anywhere and stopped he could move it into Park and it would magically reappear, one assumes. Mountain and molehill.

I'm genuinely not sure when I accessed my glovebox. I wonder what's in there

Which, arguably, you shouldn't. You should put your sunnies on beforehand or stop safely and then put them on if it requires you to lean across the car.

Tissues, wet wipes, locking wheel nut key, Julia Donaldson story collection, Finding Nemo audiobook, spare keys for roof rack, roof box, towbar, and bike rack, screwdriver set.

I use it quite often!

Flashlight, spare charging cables, spare usb charger and wheel nut key, cds for the CD changer and a card with the RAC number on it.

Every month the flashlight is checked, as is my emergency grab bag and full first aid kit.

It’s good to be prepared.

It's a stretched out arm and a slight body lean - don't need to take my eyes off the road or both hands off the wheel. I'd wager it's probably closer than some of the buttons on the interior of an LM-002

Thats an even bigger issue then. i don’t want passengers messing about with the screen going through menus when im driving to open the glove box.

Thats an even bigger issue then. i don’t want passengers messing about with the screen going through menus when im driving to open the glove box.

You say even bigger issue. This will be an issue in approximately 0.000001% of use cases

Arguably the fact that a ton of other useful/necessary functions are all performed via a touchscreen is probably a bigger issue but obviously Volvos aren't alone in that regard these days.

One of those stupid things I really don’t see the point of.

You still have to push it closed and has a horrible cheap plasticy sounding latch.

Surely a physical latch button is cheaper and easier.

That. Moving to electronic means you don't need a key to lock it.... so you don't need to factor lock-matching into your manufacturing process. It feel like a physical latch without a lock would be a nice simple solution - do people really lock shizzle in their glove boxes these days? (genuine question)
