That's an amazing picture @mik.

We have family up here and my wife qualified as a nurse during covid after losing a friend, but moving back also means she's around for them as they are getting older. There's also a small croft that nobody else in her family would be interested in taking over, so there's been a few reasons for making the move, but also there's less people and we both love the outdoors. Luckily I can work from anywhere.

It's only been about 6 weeks, but it really is a totally different pace of life entirely. And everyone in the village (apart from one grumpy woman in a Dacia) are so friendly. And obviously there's far fewer people than down in Edinburgh which is a definite bonus and I think perhaps an age thing.
Cheers,

Mike.

London up to 10 years ago was the best city for me. I would happily have lived there all my life. New York felt equal but I never stayed there more than 10 days so can’t be accurate but it had a similar vibe.
But London grew up and moved on and I stayed as the old fashioned dinosaur, so much so I really don’t care about it much now.
How about not having a sig at all?

As this thread has wandered off topic a bit, it's ripe for inputs from @mr_jon following his relocation to Islay :geek: . He does pop in occasionally......

Agree about the NYC comparison, it's like London on steroids, which is quite cool, it's got real big city energy.. The longest I spent in NYC in one go is about 7 weeks and would have been happy to stay longer too, although living in Manhattan (Chelsea) was quite expensive. It's like London in that respect, the more central you are, the more enjoyable the city becomes.

I hadn’t realised he’d moved to Islam. That’s a bit of a big life decision, though I remember him posting before he’d planned exactly where to go.

We've been to Donington today to watch a bit of racing and the weather was dire. Lots of mx5s racing and with no roof it can't have been a very nice place to be. By 11.30 the complete day of racing was cancelled without a race being run, numerous red flags in practice and qualifying probably didn't help.

Twelve hours into autumn and the rain's come down hard enough to wake me up and notice I'd left a window open - good fortune, the wind is blowing that way and sogginess would undoubtedly have ensued.

Not expected to hit land (Florida) until Wednesday, and it’s “likely” to calm a little by then, but Milton is looking like quite a storm.
