The Elise Thread
Re: The Elise Thread
Yeah, the fibreglass was full of moisture, needed to go back to fibres and get baked a few times before painting.
Not Liquid Yellow by the way, that's got a slightly more orangey hue which I'm not so much of a fan of on the S1 (even though I loved it on the old Exige). This is a Ferrari colour called Giallo Triplo Strato which translates as the much more mundane sounding Three Layer Yellow I believe.
Re: The Elise Thread
Dan refurbed the calipers in black and stuck on the belled discs and RC6 pads for me a few months ago (which you can just about make out in the top pic). Also got a new T7 heater fitted during the respray and various other shits and bits sorted.
Other than the interior it's getting pretty close to bring a new car I reckon. I'll sort the interior over the winter and then I think it's a case of enjoying it.

That looks fantastic, only thing I'm not entirely sure about is the exhaust. I'm not sure a single exit is right, but then I don't think a double is either. Triples and quads are out of the question.
Maybe the pipe needs to be a bit shorter?

It's more of a functional thing I guess, it will spit flames on occasion, and it gets very hot. I was a bit worried about heat causing issues with the paint in general so got it coated by Zircotec (plus I think it looks cool obvs).DeskJockey wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 8:57 pm That looks fantastic, only thing I'm not entirely sure about is the exhaust. Re: The Elise Thread
The S1 is the only car I’d have in yellow. Nice choice, Duncs.

Re: The Elise Thread
His first 4 posts that came up were yellow Elises (Elisii?)!! Two have black wheels, one has the Jobbo silver ring and Duncs’ car.. all look great, but i (personally) prefer the black wheels.
Cheers,
Ian

That's a good reason to keep it as it is, then.duncs500 wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:49 pmIt's more of a functional thing I guess, it will spit flames on occasion, and it gets very hot. I spotted that too - perfect for a comparison. I actually prefer the silver despite suggesting black
Re: The Elise Thread
I like the wheels too much to make them invisible!
I may get my AWIs done in a gun metal as a darker alternative at some point.

Looks very fresh and clean with the silver wheels. They definitely don’t need hiding
Cheers, Harry
Re: The Elise Thread
Looks great duncs. I prefer a darker wheel but that’s my preference.
Re: The Elise Thread
Looks amazing Duncs. Yellow cars aren't normally my thing, but that looks like a real special finish - looks quite pearlescent from your pics, is it like that in real life?
Look forward to seeing it on the road soon!

Re: The Elise Thread
Yeah, I wanted a pearl finish but with a base colour that I felt suited the car. I just hate orange on an S1 so I steered away from Liquid Yellow because for me it's got too much orange in it. This is like LY but without the orange tinge.Marv wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:27 pm Looks amazing Duncs. Lovely bold colour - If you're going be a bear, be a grizzly

Re: The Elise Thread
I like that. I think it needs more black detailing (but then I would, wouldn't I?), but looking at the panels I'm struggling to think where you even could without going overboard.
Big thumbs up from here.
