The moon looked lovely last night - I thought maybe it was a harvest moon but it's a month early and not full until tonight anyway.

Cloudy I didn't know it was a supermoon but I guess it's all relative. I forgot to check the name of this moon I'll guess Honey but I think that might have already been.

August: Sturgeon Moon
August has the Full Sturgeon Moon because of the large numbers of lake sturgeon in the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain. The fish was essential for Native American tribes in the area.

The Celts called it Dispute Moon and Lynx Moon, and the Anglo-Saxons the Grain Moon. Other English names include Corn Moon and Lightning Moon.

August: Sturgeon Moon
North American fishing tribes called August's full moon the sturgeon moon since the species appeared in number during this month. It's also been called the green corn moon, the grain moon, and the red moon for the reddish hue it often takes on in the summer haze.

It was a cloudy bastard up here last night so we didn't see anything which is a shame because taking photos of the moon with my phone whilst wandering about the garden in my slippers like a crazy man has become a bit of a habit over the last few weeks.

Great pics, they capture similar-ish sights I've seen doon heere (no light pollution, the long line of moonlight reflected off the sea)

I don't know whether it's an age thing, but I find myself really daydreaming about being out in big (I don't know how better to describe it) nature like that. Mostly Cornwall. Even though I have no links to the place, I think about being in Cornwall most days... is that weird? Not really even beaches or warm weather, the rocky coastline is what I think about.

Not sure if it’s an age thing - I’ve never really loved city life since my early 20’s, but I get great satisfaction from being a bit further out of town now, and feeling a real connection with nature. Very lucky. We don’t have a view of the sea like ascender, but we do have a waterway at the end of our garden, and just being beside it is always somehow calming.

We see loads of varied wildlife in the garden, but highlights include deer, owls, pine marten, heron, otters and peregrine falcon.

This young buzzard was sitting on our picnic table a couple of weeks back. It was tired from flying lessons - I stopped about 3m from it but I reckon I could have touched it if I’d wanted - not a great idea so I halted, but it was a really special moment (for me),

Wow, amazing to get so close.

Where we live we do have some nice walks and nature around us too (although the local beasts are probably not as impressive as up your way!) but there's something about the expensive scenery of a rugged coastline that really appeals. We're just too well settled where we are at the minute though.

Loads of people in the UK have distant family that arrived on this island somewhere via the west country so you could have a long lost distant connection that's arising

Although I totally get it, about wanting to be out of town. I've always maintained that most people living in London have a time limit on them. For some people it's a year, for others it's fifty years or more, in the last few years I've begun to find the edges of my London time-limit. Partly through my Italian trip earlier this year, spending an entire month in a quiet coastal town put my life on a completely different footing, perhaps a little bit like retirement but it felt like a fundamentally more peaceful and enjoyable way of living that dispensed with all the noise, stress and drama of London.

It also would dispense with the £££ of London but that's a different conversation too
