F.a.o Jobbo solicitor Qn

Post by Jimexpl »

I can’t find a clear answer to this and thought you might know before I chase it up next week.
My wife just found a letter that had been mixed up with our bank statements from a solicitor trying to contact me regarding a distant relative who died last year. It’s dated May 2023 and it appears that I’m a beneficiary of the will.
Has too much time passed, or will they still have whatever it it for me?

Cheers!

If you are a beneficiary of a will then they would be pretty negligent if they distributed your bequest to others just because you hadn’t responded to a letter. So no, not at all too late.

Thanks - let’s see how a chat with the solicitor goes on Monday then!

(Definitely not a Nigerian email! It’s one of my Dad’s cousins. I used to spend a fair bit of time at his mum’s in the school holidays when I was a kid (my grandparents were nearby). He didn’t have any children; to be honest I’m surprised he had a will.
