They’re a grand upwards these days, aren’t they? That’s proper money.

You don’t need to take a risk on second hand stuff; things like the Oris Aquis are often available with a decent discount and (IMO) are going to be much more satisfying long term.

Yeah, probs £750 to £1100 for the majority of their stuff.

Most of the nice Oris stuff seems quite a lot dearer, it would have to be a BIG discount to be in the same price bracket no?

You can often find an Aquis in the just over £1000 bracket - grey faced one at Fraser Hart for £1300. Or a 2024 one for £845 - used but barely.

I don't think the Aquis is quite what I'm looking for, and probably pretty limited options on the heavily discounted ones. The designs I really liked from the website are quite a bit more.

Maybe I'll got to the CW showroom in Maidenhead and have a look. I have cause to be in Maidenhead soon anyway.

That’s absolutely fair - it was just an example. But one which I think demonstrates that there is value out there with a more historic Swiss brand.

I’m a fan of the Aquis range too, but it’s ideal if you can get into the CW site in Maidenhead for a look/feel. Lots of the guys on the CW forum are serious watch enthusiasts as opposed to Chris Ward fanbois and often own many more expensive pieces, yet still rate their CW items.

What style of watch are you looking for Duncs. Is there anything here of interest? I've bought a couple of watches from him and they are decent quality.

I sent my wife a photo of my new Swatch yesterday which resulted in some crossed lines somehow, when I got home she thought that I'd bought it for her

So this appeared today

I've changed the strap on mine as I don't like how the standard Velcro strap sticks out on one side

Quite like a couple of them. I'm fairly open minded, but something with a bit of something interesting in the design. I still like my Baltic and that's got the classic navy vintage diver angle covered, so something in a slightly different colour scheme, maybe a light dial, a bit of colour in the accents. Auto or manual wind, sapphire crystal, 38-42mm.

Basically the jag f1 car with the diamond, if it’s sounds like a dumb idea it probably is

Well in the end I scratched the itch with something cheaper than CW. Just love a micro-brand and got seduced by this:

Not everyone's taste I'm sure, but I really like it. :)

That’s cool. I love the colour and gradient of the face, love the black/white bezel (though is it a GMT watch?) and love the black PVD case and bracelet. The colours are pretty funky overall. Nice.
