Yessss! :ugeek:

I'm both happy and disappointed in myself that I managed to get this.

ETA those are seriously knobbly tyres

Looks smart.

I like Toureags, very nice places to be. But wasn't the V10 notoriously problematic?

Chunky tyres and that front one looks very soft.

Same thoughts here. I'd put normal tyres on it - offroad tyres on a 4x4 used on the road are pretty miserable.

Oh. I guess that's why it was only £5k !

I wanted a 4x4 to replace the van, the van is OK but now I'm starting to do more car stuff I was fretting that I'd end up stuck in a muddy field somewhere unable to recover my trailer. FWD isn't great for towing.

So I went through all the options. Defenders are horrid to drive, Disco 3s are too slow and anything by LR is going to be unreliable. I couldn't get excited about any of the Jap offerings (sorry). Briefly considered a V8 Cayenne to match my 996 then remembered the Touareg is largely the same but was available with a V10. I've not had a V10 before 8-)

So I've got myself a 550lbft V10, with a low range transfer box and centre & rear diff locks, and air suspension that goes up & down. It won't be getting stuck in any muddy fields.

It's got a set of regular winter tyres with it as well, but they're on manky rims, I need to look out for some others.

I was about to highlight that the 3.0d in mrs mik's F-pace gets to within 37lbs.ft and 13PS of the big v10, but thats just normal progress I guess, and you certainly cant pick up a 3.0d FP for £5k. :)

Are those tyres BFG MTs ?

If so I’d remove them, I’m sure they only have a 160kmh speed rating and they weigh a metric funk ton. I know as I have them on mine, they will outlast every piece of rubber on the car though which is good.

I think you are utterly mad for purchasing it but look forward to the updates, it’s a silly engine and despite the figures will out monster any diesel this side of a Scammel or Q7 V12 8-)

This. And the shut-lines almost line up as well.

Lots of engine for £5k and I'm sure it'll be suitably hilarious for overtaking. Would love a ride in it for giggles. I thought the V10 ones had a spoiler on the roof at the back - I guess it could be deleted.

Excellent, suitably coloured addition to the fleet.

Nice. I wonder why the previous owner put those tyres on it?

Does it have as much boot space as an X5?

No, they're some cheap jobbies, but brand new. They look quite cool and surprisingly didn't drive totally horrendously. But the car comes with a another set of wheels with "normal" winters on so I'll stick those on and see how much difference it makes. Wifey is very unimpressed with the purchase so far so I need to try and win her over a little.

My other cars have all been remarkably cheap to run. Maybe this will redress the balance :D
