Reading of peoples' injuries - ouch, do not like. Get well fully, all.

If you're going for yellow, then Ford Zinc Yellow or GTFOduncs500 wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2024 9:33 pm Didn't he say he was getting it in a vibrant colour? So I'm guessing that isn't grey!
Wheels are nice.
Did you say what colour you're doing it or is it a surprise? Or is it just blue with white wheels for nostalgic reasons?![]()
You know why.
You all know why.
Re: Your fleet running reports
After ~180000 miles of A2 usage I have experienced a failure to proceed. A2 derv, a couple of days after having a new clutch and driveshaft and not having hinted before, failed to restart
No clicks, no dimming dash lights or owt. The engine was nice and hot so it got bump-started. Through a drive-through. They didn't have any hot chocolate, which felt like adding insult to injury. Everything looks as it should (as far as I can see) so atm I'm guessing the starter solenoids pooped itself. It's more annoying that it's happened just after it was on a lift with the under tray off and nice and easy access - the Law of Sod manifest.

Re: Your fleet running reports
I have a bit of an irrational distaste for Type R logos on Hondalises, although the roundel with the R badge in it is pretty cool actually.

And white alloys for nostalgia, definitely. If they work; I'll not get any wheels until the wrap is done so I can be certain. Grey might be better.

And replace the Tillets with some Rally Chopper seats. I think @V8Granite is onto something here.

Re: Your fleet running reports

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Your fleet running reports
Bought a new toy for in the works van- it’s a screen that mounts up similar to a sat nav, just plugs into a lighter socket, although I’ve hardwired it to avoid wires trailing all over. It’s got wireless apple CarPlay and it also came with a reversing camera, which you splice in with the reverse light wiring and it activates automatically and mutes audio at the same time. It plugs into vehicle audio via an aux cable, I just need to get a longer one to be able to route that away inside the dashboard, all in I’m impressed with it, especially when it only cost £28 for the full kit off TikTokshop

Re: Your fleet running reports
Well, it had to happen eventually.
A month short of 4 years ownership, and I have modified the alfasud and put some different wheels on
To be honest, I bought them a few years ago, a random eBay search for 4x98 13/14/15” wheels. When they arrived I loved them, but never got round to doing anything with them. Fast forward to this year and I took another look, decided they were too rough and complicated to diy refurb. Heavy paint flaking on every surface, wasn’t confident I’d ever get a tyre to seal.
Then I found myself looking at wheels again, couldn’t find any I liked as much as the ones I had, so measured up, ordered some bolts I thought should fit - they did. Spoke to a local refurb company, dropped them off making it clear I knew how bad they were, and not to worry if they didn’t want to take them on.
Took a gamble, ordered tyres ( with some guesstimating on sizes) dropped them off, a couple of days late picked up some nice shiny wheels.
Picked them up Friday evening, bolted them on Saturday morning, a quick run to a local car meet to check they were ok before a trip to Mallory Park in Leicestershire for Retro Rides.
So, what are they? Turns out they are incredibly rare 1975 vintage, 14” GKN Silverstone GP. Usually seen in 10 or 12” mini fitment. 14” 4x98 fiat / alfa / lancia fit is proper unicorn stuff.
Now, they are not perfect, the wheel company has real issues removing some of the old primer, and old alloy tends to go porous, releasing gasses when baked, so there are the odd few pin holes. I wish I’d taken some before photos though. I’m still very happy!
