Cupra Ginger Alloys

Post by tim »

G/f has a very nice Cupra Leon Design Edition, but sadly got forced into a hedge by oncoming bell-end and kerbed one of the polished Copper alloys fairly badly.

Local wheel place reckons it'll be nigh on impossibru to colour match, which is disheartening. Any local ish to Suffolk peeps got wheel refurb expert experience? I would dive head first into the one make forums but I don't want to hang myself today.

i love the stories women make up when they crash/ scratch cars. my mrs rang me up all upset once to say there was a bit of metal hanging off the car after there was a loud bang when she was driving along.

i got home to see the plastic jacking point behind the front whe had been wrenched out of place and was stuck in the side skirt mounting. i came up with my theory of what had actually happened and asked her if she had driven off a high kerb - which she confirmed.

I’m planning on taking a set of wheels to wheelhouse alloys in Ipswich soon. Had a look around their place at the weekend and all looked very impressive.

Might be worth sending a couple of photos on their Instagram, they’ve always responded pretty quickly

Although if they’re an unusual finish I guess you may end up having to do a pair or the whole lot and might be cheaper to buy a single new one.

Aerocoat are somewhere else which immediately springs to mind.

Could maybe find a good paintshop with scanning kit. I have no suggestions of places however.

Lepsons in Gillingham did the colour change on my Caterham wheels (admittedly a long time ago and a full set), I'm pretty sure I did a fair bit of research before going with them though and they had a good rep, so might be worth a call.

Surely the main dealer would know the colour? I doubt their solution would be to respray all the wheels because they don't know.
How about not having a sig at all?

Lots discussing this on the Seatcupra.net forums about how hard it is the match, with garages saying they'll struggle to match it - some have even resorted to buying new alloys @£600 each!
