Free trip to space!

Post by mik »

You've been given a single free ticket for a commercial space flight. Just you. You're not going to venture outside the craft, travel to the moon or the ISS or anything else - just going up into low earth orbit for the x-perience - the views and a short period of being weightless.

Could be on Virgin Galactic or something else that may not even exist yet.

It's the one chance you'll get in your lifetime.

Do you think the views out of the window would be worth it?

Give me that ticket! And a bulletproof life insurance policy guaranteed to pay out just in case someone decides to make it out of composite materials

I’d go on SpaceX. Wouldn’t trust any of the others!

Sorry sir - that's not an option. By default, your ticket has been given to a homeless personage.

With no dependents I'd be in the hand biting category, now doing something with a reasonable risk of fiery death makes me a bit more apprehensive, however still too great an opportunity to miss.

I would love to see space, but that kind of trip feels like a very selfish way to generate a lot of unnecessary pollution for no real benefit to anyone but me.

This is a safer alternative I guess, although not quite space.

Although currently unavailable, wonder why...

Prices seem pretty reasonable for the other stuff though, looks cheaper than the Spitfire flights here!

Yeah they were doing those for a long time. Very 8-)

20-ish km altitude vs 95-ish km for these commercial space flights.

I'm selfish enough to say ab-so-bloody-lutely.

As I've started playing Kerbal Space Program this week I also feel qualified to fly it.

That just reminds me that KSP2 is possibly the most disappointing sequel to a game this decade :(

I have heard that. These days I guess everyone is hoping for a No Mans Sky style redemption.

I saw a video of modded KSP1 on Reddit that looked incredible.
