It looked like the dog was having flashbacks.

Used them on the dogs before, work great but the dogs hate them because they tickled their feet

Missy managed to damage her toe on Sunday night, with her inside claw pointing more like a Jurassic park velociraptor than a dog

Vet confirmed it was broken cleanly through on xray, and also that it had very low bone density for some reason, meaning it was unlikely to heal easily- so rather than waiting and hoping she’s had the full toe removed. They’ve sent it off to be looked at as greyhounds are prone to a few types of bone cancer, not expecting it to be but better to know if this will happen again somewhere else

In terms of missy's recovery we do have one problem- she’s not bothered by the injury so we’re struggling to stop her running and bouncing about  definitely not moping or anything so worse problems to have

I’ve never contributed to this thread before having never had a dog, but I’ve been granted part custody of this border terrier named Monty. GF has had him 8 years, she picks up the shit and the vet bills and I get all the love. It’s a great system.

He’s a clever little bastard and impresses people in pubs with his repertoire of tricks. He seems to understand basic English too.

He looks like a charming little fella.

Missy’s recoverys is going great, no signs of cancer so looks like low bone density possibly caused by an old injury or something 🤷‍♂️ A missing toe still isn’t slowing her down at all, and it’s all healed brilliantly. Still looks a bit weird but think it’s more because her fluff needs to grow back

We went away the other weekend so her parents had him. When we walked in the door he ran straight past her and started jumping up at me

I’ve always been more of a cat person, I like their DGAF attitude, but I really am liking the energy of a dog and how pleased to see me he always is.

A bit of a shit time with Cooper.

He had a bad case of hot spot one after the other, which isn’t normal. He then got some cysts in his throat, was bitten by a bug , possibly, which made his face swell up in a matter of minutes and resulted in an emergency visit to the vets. So anti-biotics, a steroid injection and a bit of rest and he was ok again.

He recovered from all of that but seemed a bit down. He then had the shits so we gave it a couple of days after the anti-biotics had finished and no change. He then walked in with a nose bleed one day and we were referred to a specialist in Newmarket. His platelet levels were 50% of what they should have been, he started to get a temperature that night and wasn’t eating. Fluid started to build on his joints and eventually had to have a feeding tube directly into his stomach as he had gone from 59 to 46kg in 9 days.
Last Wednesday night he had a seizure and when they shaved his leg to put another line in the skin started to bleed.
So Thursday morning (I’m away still and couldn’t get back) the wife went to lay with him while they put him to sleep.

Absolutely gutted, from a big strong 3 year old to gone in 9 days isn’t fair. The specialist is taking the body for a few months as they have no idea what could cause any of this as they were pumping him full of IV drugs. We should hopefully find out in about 12 weeks or so.

Hutch is a bit needy now, he was laying with him a lot when he was poorly and he is probably wondering where he has gone.

Bye bye Cooper (in red)

Sorry to hear that, my condolences to you and your family. Must be even more difficult when you're half a world away.
