Bye Bye Sunak..
Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
Oh, and LOL at the SNP. Nice to see nationalism getting a kick in the teeth.
And whilst it's good that we actually have some adults in charge now, I'm not 'excited' by the Labour front bench - I really don't think they are the best the country has to offer. Sure, they won't be as shockingly shit and self serving as those heading for the exit door, but I also don't think they're dynamic and full of initiative and good ideas.

Still think this isn’t a GE that Labour won but one the Conservatives have lost

the conservatives definitely "won" in 2019 - and look where that lying sack of "charismatic" shit Boris is now.dinny_g wrote: Thu Jul 04, 2024 11:06 pm Still think this isn’t a GE that Labour won but one the Conservatives have lost
I don't want a flamboyant campaigner to "win" it, I'd rather have a clever guy with integrity take the win by letting the opposition showman expose his own lies.
I didn't vote labour, but I'm satisfied with the outcome.
Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
Yeah I voted Lib Dem, because our candidate is actually really good, and it looks like he'll take it from the Tories - my brother's even been canvassing for them, and it's the only party to actually show up at my front door and talk to me. Labour stuck a token leaflet through the door, as did the tories.

I saw fucking no-one. I might have missed them at previous elections, but for local elections, and now this election, not a single knock on the door.
Labour have held this seat since 2010 though so it's a bit of a safe bet, but it would have been nice to have the conservative candidate turn up so I could tell them to fuck off and play in traffic.

I really do hope they take note.
I very much doubt any of them will.

That's what the results are bearing out so far. The combined Con/Reform vote is very very close to the Lab vote. Lab haven't won back the voters they lost to the Cons in 2019dinny_g wrote: Thu Jul 04, 2024 11:06 pm Still think this isn’t a GE that Labour won but one the Conservatives have lost

what are the figures you're basing that on?Swervin_Mervin wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2024 12:11 amThat's what the results are bearing out so far. Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
Labour took my constituency from the snp, along with most of the central belt.
Nice to see Corbyn keep his seat.

I think 2019 wasn’t an election the Conservatives won but which Brexit won. But the large majority is what goes down in history and someone has to lose for someone else to win.dinny_g wrote: Thu Jul 04, 2024 11:06 pm Still think this isn’t a GE that Labour won but one the Conservatives have lost
What is telling is that Jeremy Hunt kept his seat - with a majority less than 1000 - because he actively campaigned and knocked on doors for the past 6 weeks. Iain Duncan-Smith did too. We kept our Tory MP who is not tainted with scandal or self-serving grifting. There are (were) far too few Tories who fitted that description and that is why they lost. Though Sir Gavin Williamson won, to my surprise, despite being awful and ineffective. So satisfying to see Rees-Mogg go; his disdain is what lost him his seat.
Now, time for the Tories to rebuild and realise that they’ve lost more votes to Labour than Reform - so move towards the centre not the far right.

I think you’re looking at one or two constituencies without considering the detail here. The variation per constituency is very interesting indeed.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2024 12:11 amThat's what the results are bearing out so far. The Reform vote share is crazy. More individual votes than the Liberals for like 5% of the seats.

to be fair, we all knew they'd get a lot of votes, I'm actually surprised at how many seats they won.ZedLeg wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2024 6:42 am The Reform vote share is crazy. More individual votes than the Liberals for like 5% of the seats.
Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
I’m just glad the pre election predictions of 10+ seats seems unlikely at this point.
The only one I saw was Lee Anderson, which seemed to be a given.

67% in my constituency. I expect that means there'll be other ones that have a percentage that much lower than the average too...
