A load of BYD cars in Brighton.

To demonstrate the greatness of the electric vehicle there was a London to Brighton electric car rally. All 47 miles of it.

Had a nose around the BYD ones and yeah, umm, I genuinely don’t understand some of the reviewers and their opinions. It’s a horrid looking group of cars with pretty shoddy seats and ergonomics. Looking at how they were setting up and struggling to drive up kerbs then I assume (maybe wrongly) that they have the throttle control of a teenage chav.

Also saw Quentin Wilson at the bar, it was a day of motoring dullness and depression.

Brighton was good fun though.

Dave!

Three car transporters with a variety of older cars; '66 Mustang, mk1 Escort in what looked like Safari Rally spec, etc etc etc. Many had a good covering of road grime. The Mustang had a UK reg, some of the others I'm not sure but I saw a sticker that said something like Australia Classic Cars Rally. Will have to have a nose and see what I can find.

A couple of weeks back, what I assumed was a wedding procession headed by a Veyron with assorted other things like a Cullinan, G Wagen, 458/488, I think an Aston in there, 911, a white Dawn convertible with peach roof and peach detailing on the wheels...

Spotted a 1987/88 Lotus Excel, which I think was an SE, on my way to work yesterday. An unusual rush-hour commuter vehicle.

360 challenge stradale in red with the stripe.

Sounded great, but the owner was a bellend doing 70+ through a 30mph village around school finishing time.

Lotus eletre, in black with black wheels. Looked quite nice, but slightly hard to judge completely because of the colour

A very nice Ferrari 308. Looked just right. Also a 430 Scuderia in white, sounded rather exciting even at walking pace.

There was a silver 550M parked on the street looking utterly correct as I walked back from the pub yesterday. Only spoilt by the attendance of an AA van.

A mate a blue one years ago which he had the opposite problem with. The engine would never turn off when he took the key out

That reminds me of my mum's Mini 850. After a trip to the mechanic's for something electrical it came back and wouldn't turn off even with the key out. However, switching the headlights off also turned the engine off.

Saw one of these today. An understandably rare sight here, the one I saw was working for a plant hire place so probably doesn’t have to pull long trailers.

Didn't happen to have an "SP" number plate, did it?

TDF blue GTC4 Lusso with a "V12" number plate followed by a white Porsche Speedster of some sort.

And a Tesla something-or-other being driven by someone who seemed to be trying to set a new land speed record on the straights before seeing just how slowly they could go round corners.

Mike.

Went along to a car meet thing this morning. This DB6 arrived. Sounded fruity and was spotless 8-)

Lambo isn’t really my thing, but the pearl finish to the pair was fabulous up close, and it was a manuel. Looked about 3m wide though.

One of the last S2 Exiges made (I think). Love them.

Spotted a VW Buzz this morning. But it was in some dark grey colour with everything else in some dark grey colour, so looked incredibly dull. I was almost past it by the time I realised what it was.

Didn’t notice, was too busy working out what it was, then if it was real, then trying to see what the knobhead behind the wheel looked like 😅

I've just seen an orange and white one (possibly only the second I've seen, I've seen far more vans). It was alright but I think some of the vans have looked better, maybe they've inspired more interesting signwriting?
