From the news the "debate" was a car crash and a serious disaster for Biden, to the point that there are calls from the democrat side for him to stand aside and let a new candidate be chosen.

Apparently force of personality is all that matters, not the fact that Trump lied throughout the entire event about everything, and neither answered questions well (or at all).

This could turn very bad come inauguration time of the democrats don't get their act together.

Force of personality ?

The guy looked mentally unwell and couldn’t string a sentence together. If someone had an ice cream van ring tone he would have called out Mama and ran out to get one.

I wouldn’t trust him to look after my cat.

I half-watched a piece covering this on the UK news last night. They looked pretty absurd in their face-off last time round, but now it's a 78yr old bloke arguing with an 81yr old.

Apparently there were lots of issues with the sound, and the proposal is that - for the next round - they actively cut the mic of the candidate who isn't speaking. The news channel (it was either BBC or ITV - can't recall) brought a US expert on to discuss this proposal, and this botox-filled berk came on and (everything I am now quoting is paraphrased) opened with something like "Well this is the reason that you and I put our make-up on in the morning. Visuals are important. The look is essential". Then she seemed to remember that the question was actually about the audio, and followed that "and sound is really important too", suggesting that cutting mics was a terrible idea as the best part of the presidential debate was that you let the other guy speak and right at the end of his segment you throw in a quip that undermines what he's just said, like a punch in the gut, and that gets him riled. America's completely lost in the "show" elements, and the content of the candidate's arguments (if they actually manage to orate anything with any coherent meaning) appears to be a fading-into-the-distance secondary consideration.

I'm not being ageist btw. I'm being spafllingdodderybullshitterist.

Foohuffmuddlespiffle we beat Medicare!

Whether you love or hate trump, he was at least alert and in the room. Biden just looked lost and angry.

I’d say currently, U.K. and American politics are on or with their ability to be a total shit show.

The usual deluge of lies from Trump. But in the absence of real-time fact checking it looks like people prefer the candidate that’s loudest

I did think it odd that there was no fact checking at all. There's no issue with impartiality, it is simple staffing the facts rather than what drivel is being spouted.

And irrespective of how Trump came across on stage, the fact that so many cannot see beyond that to his record and history is mindbogglingly mindboggling. Not like it is a well kept secret.

How would you feel though if you saw a sharp decline in your way of life though once Biden came in ?

People will have their reasons before voting for either of them and more power to them. Whether he lies or not, if he was in power and things were better for you, you’d think he was doing a good job.

Much like U.K. politics though there isn’t much to shout about either of them. I’m surprised they aren’t saying who has a bigger Pokémon collection at this point.

What are you basing that on? Everything I've read suggests that things are better under Biden then they were under Trump. And let's not forget that Trump didn't deliver on a single economic policy, and failed miserably on pretty much everything else except the enablement of the far right crazies.

To be fair, there’s a lot of people whose lives were better in 2020. They hadn’t died from COVID yet. It took trump ignoring the problem until it was too late before that happened.

The people I know who work for CAT in Irving and Peoria think the country has absolutely fallen on its arse. That’s a poll of 4 admittedly but still people I’ve actually spoken to. The other one I know is a Jesus loving angry policeman who thanks the lord for any arrests so I’ll discount that one 😂.

Federal debt being 25% higher is a big one, as is gas and food prices but I think too much onus is put on them as it’s a daily reminder of inflation compared to a bigger picture which may not be so bad.

Roughly 100,000,000 people voted for Trump, I don’t think they are all clueless racists as gets spouted. Whether I agree or not I don’t think entire populations are idiots. Another 100,000,000 voted for Biden, I don’t think they are lefty liberal weirdos either, they must have had their reasons and seen the benefits.

Biden comes across to me as incompetent and lost.

Despite this he is massively more credible to me than blatant liar and self-serving manipulator/disruptor Trump.

For reasons beyond me, the US political parties appear to be following Vatican rules in terms of selecting their leaders.

Your inability to understand why someone voted as they did is a bit odd. I could see why someone would vote for the Greens even if I think they are a terrible party.

I can’t understand why anyone would vote for a man who has already been impeached three times and was recently convicted of a federal crime.

I’m not sure why that makes me odd tbh.

As far as your “100,000,000 people can’t be wrong” theory, clearly they can be or McDonalds wouldn’t be the biggest restaurant brand in the world.

Regardless of anything, Biden is just too old, not necessarily the actual number, because Trump is nearly the same age, but you can't have someone "leading the free world" who can barely stay awake for the end of their answer and hobbles around with arthritis. It baffles me that the democrats can't find a better nominee.

Neither party wants a good candidate tbh, they want an easily manipulated front man for their agenda.

It’s all the project 2025 folk pushing trump and AIPAC are throwing money at Biden as they don’t want someone who may be less friendly to Israel.

Why can’t people enjoy a McDonalds from time to time ?

People think the crimes are either not important or were biased in the court. Whether the media is to blame or general mouth frothing from either side, it’s still a view by an enormous amount of people.
