Do you have any proofs of NCB which are no more than 2 years old from the 4C? You might not need to mirror it.

When does the Up! insurance expire?

Mega purchase if it comes off, massive want. I naively thought you could just provide proof of NCB and they would honour ?

They aren't touching anything that isn't modified at the moment. Like, they wouldn't touch the M135i, and they've let me know they can't renew the 330ci insurance.

So unless you're gonna immediately swap out the exhaust, wheels and put a phat spoiler on it, they aren't even worth trying.

Perhaps (yes, I know what you're doing there) but I've given up on them as basically being useless as an insurer to me now that I'm an old cunt and I'm less interested in modding stuff.

Just say it’s mapped, if quote is genuinely cheaper, then you have some money towards getting it mapped. Win win.
How about not having a sig at all?

Also something else I’ve wondered, if NCB from one car is used twice how would the insurer know? It’s not like it’s got a barcode and unique serial number which can be checked on a database is it? Just seems like a crap system to me.

Not until January, unfortunately.

Good point on the alternative NCB - I had the Evora over 2 years and the 4C for nearly 2 years so might be about 3 years in it, based on it not expiring. I never asked, as she mirrored the NCB for the quote.

@Mito Man they give you a certificate if you (or they) ask for proof; although I haven't been asked for ages. It's still bullshit how NCB can only be 'used' on one car, yet points/accident history counts across everything. The whole NCB thing is just a money maker for the industry.

You can only use NCB on one car, you're reliant on an insurer to recognise it as 'mirrored' - some do, especially through the same broker, others don't.

992 GTS was £1800 ish.. VED was considerably more!

Insurance renewal email received from Reis - £0 ! Because they're not doing road cars any more and I have to go elsewhere.

More money for Admiral I guess.

As you will be aware your current Multi Vehicle policy is due for renewal on 27/07/2024

Your current Underwriters (Markerstudy Insurance Services Ltd ) have suspended all new business and renewal business across their motor book as they are moving to a co insurer basis due to capacity levels

We must ask that as you have a policy purely for private everyday cars on cover currently that you source cover for those elsewhere from the due date as we will not be able to cover these from the expiry of your current policy

Once again, please accept our apologies and if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us on 0115 9651040 or email contact@reis.co.uk

There's a lot of this going on across the market generally. The insurers willing to quote for various different cars seem to be different from one month to the next.

The flipside of this seems to be specialisation - last year I did compare the market and the best quote on the E46 was £450 - about the same as Safely Insured offered (so I stuck with them because easier).

This year, I'm getting quotes *well* under £300 with, as I recall, same details (low milage etc)

So probably worth having a good sniff around.

Edit: Actually that's wth 9+ years NCB which I transferred to the M135i, just realised I can't do that on the E46 for renewal so this'll be a right fuckin' laugh.

Further edit: Only pushed it up to £400 with 0 NCB - car now insured for however long I need it.

So based on this, on comparison sites, saying I've got no NCB but am a policy holder with 15+ experience on another car with no accidents, Admiral coming in at £890. Not bad.

The SAME quote on their proper site, they want £1500 and a black box! Imagine being 42 years old in a 510bhp car with a black box

Either way, that 2 years NCB could be key, regardless of source the Admiral quote with 2 years NCB is about £750, so not bad at all considering I'm paying £500 on the Up.

When I referred to 2 years, I was talking about the policy having run until no more than 2 years ago rather than needing 2 years' worth of NCB. Most insurers recognise NCB earned on a policy which expired no more than 2 years before; some may take into account older NCB and some may have a cut-off at 12 months ago. Sounds like you've declared it properly anyway and £890 isn't too bad at all.

So turns out, called the insurance company I'm with and I have Full NCB on the Up, and full NCB still 'on hold' from the 4C. Apparently they mirroed my NCB to the 4C, and as I completed a full year that now shows as full :?: He said he's happy to send me proof of that, so all good.
Rich B wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2024 3:16 pm More importantly, what spec/colour Giulia?
2019, in Trofeo White - similar to my old GTA in that pearl white. My idea spec is Comp Red with the carbon seats, but I'd need to go for the MY17, which lacks a few things and I'd prefer a newer model.

I was looking for the mild facelift (MY20) as the interior is nicer, but not only is it really pushing my budget, but they also increased the refinement (thicker glass, more sound proofing and the like) dialed back the steering rack and a few other things - plus they made some standard things optional, like the carbon roof (2k)

It's not a done deal yet, though. Private sale so ideally need an inspection.

Sounds nice - I do like the QV. Bloke up here that organised the visit to M-Sport had one in the same hue.
