Re: New M5
I’ve mentioned before that there’s a bridge near my parents (and probably more importantly, next to a supercharger!) that has a 2.5T max weight .. guess it’s just another way for a Tesla to kill you, but what about the ///M boys!? They need saving!
Cheers,
Ian

Re: New M5
Separately, I’m about to buy something: options include a Panamera Turbo S, so this could’ve upset the apple cart, but I don’t like how it looks.. I did consider a G10 (?) M5 last year, (I really liked my F10), but the idea of a Touring appealed, and as I can’t afford a GT3 Touring, was hoping to sub in the M5 touring!
Cheers,

Re: New M5
I don’t think it looks bad for a BMW, quite surprised how much the M division have turned it around as the regular 5 series is pretty awful. The front grill is bloody odd though. Completely blanked off bar those 2 tiny nostrils inside it and that crap radar unit glued on.

I don't like it. Though as always with BMWs, I reserve the right to change my mind when I see it in the flesh (though it's unlikely).

Why do they have to look like a cheap stereo from the nineties? What's with all the rubbish lighting everywhere?

Or to make it more relatable, I take my M3 CSL on a trip up to Scotland. Mik, Brian and Scott get in the passenger seats and we load the boot full of Buckfast. We then put Duncs Elise on the roof, with him sitting in it, along with a passenger seat full of Bucky and we still don't weigh more than the new M5. Probably.

I feel the same. It looks like a toy or a sim rig. I’m completely going off modern BMWs.DeskJockey wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 8:31 pm Why do they have to look like a cheap stereo from the nineties? What's with all the rubbish lighting everywhere?
See also - whooshing indicators. It was cool when KITT did it in 1982. I’ve no idea why we’re doing it again now.

Re: New M5
I followed a bmw which had kind of pulsing indicators which I didn’t hate nearly as much as stupid scrolling ones.
I don’t thing there’s a single current bmw I like the look of. I guess the normal three series is ok. I think strangely the x3 was the last one I thought looked decent, but they’ve just completely ruined that with the new one.

Re: New M5
you'd also need a second S54 plumbed in the boot to make it a fair comparison though....Marv wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 9:14 pmOr to make it more relatable, I take my M3 CSL on a trip up to Scotland. What if you buy the new M5 with the optional carbon fibre roof?!

I think all M cars look good in dark/frozen grey in press shots. No idea why!

It's got some E60 to it.
Re: New M5
There is a lad with a new 135i in my road, it looks really bad. There is also an i7 nearby which I see a lot and unlike other BMWs where you grow to like them after the initial shock, it doesnt grow on me at all. I do still have a soft spot for the Z4 but it's pretty much a generation apart from the current line up.integrale_evo wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 9:34 pm I don’t thing there’s a single current bmw I like the look of. There hasn't been a decent looking BMW for quite a while imo. But we've gone from not decent looking to downright awful fairly recently.integrale_evo wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 9:34 pm I followed a bmw which had kind of pulsing indicators which I didn’t hate nearly as much as stupid scrolling ones.

I also only just realised this lunchtime (walking past the BMW Used dealer near work) that the new models have the Series number larger than the last 2 numbers e.g. 520i
Looks wank - like you're shouting you've got a 5 series and mumbling the feeble engine it has

Eh? It's always been like that unless you buy a 1 seriesSwervin_Mervin wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2024 1:55 pmThere hasn't been a decent looking BMW for quite a while imo. I imagine the numbers of 550 sold are less than the M5.
And if you've got a 6,7,8 series you're screwed no matter what engine you buy.

he means the size of the badges, not the numerical value.Mito Man wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2024 2:14 pmEh? Ah, thought that's just Mik screwing with the formatting
Haven't noticed that the badges are now different sizes.
I was behind a iX2 and I genuinely think it's the ugliest car produced by a "premium" manufacturer currently on sale.
