New E53 AMG

Post by Simon »

No, not for me, yet.

My love for the E53 is well documented, but the that was a previous gen. Now they've launched the new one.

It's basically a straight 6 (again) but this time mated to the C/S E-performance electric setup bolted on (rather than the previous clever electric turbo whatsit) - which is interesting as this is what I thought this gen's E63 would be! Also a bit sad as no doubt it'll be a weighty beast. Wil likely end up with a late previous gen car when I upgrade, as that is aging very nicely.

I watched a very boring video (I think Autocar’s) which still made me want one. The estate in S trim. It’ll be fucking expensive though, based on the E450d being £86k upwards.

The current generation of Mercedes look a lot better than the current BMWs, inside and out.

I think I read on Boatshoes that its 350kg heavier than its predecessor and as a result of it has slower acceleration. But at least it's not a 4 banger. Have yet to see the now not so new C63!
How about not having a sig at all?

I've seen a not-so-new C63, but it was at the Merc dealership parking lot back in January. I guess that doesn't count.

Not familiar with the old set up - what was that and how is it different??

A 577hp E class sounds good to me, no matter how it’s done

That sounds like a big fat pudding of a disaster.

Well, the reviews are out and it doesn't look great. The estate is some 2.4 tonnes,, doesn't have the rear wheel steer of the saloon and it's 20k more than the old e63.

To be expected really when you consider it's basically a larger C63 but with a I6 rather than an I4. Shame.

Still want a previous gen myself.

Yes, but no v8's in this gen apparently. So another electrically boosted I6 I guess.
