Dacia Sandero. 66 plate with only 35k on it.
1.2 ambience so group 2 insurance. Drives really well. Everything is tight. No knocks or bangs. Should do the job.
Cheers,

Re: New Car
That's an excellent choice - should be fun for him as well as reliable and has Top Gear cred.
Re: New Car
Has he handed you an automotive restraining order already? Why have you taken a picture from the next street over

Re: New Car
Not 17 yet (3 months) but i've been keeping an eye out for anything good that turned up. Slightly early but it's a good car (hopefully) with super low miles.
Re: New Car
Fantastic value with these. for the budget he had anything else we were looking at (Polo, Aygo, Citigo) were all older with much higher mileage. My brother works for Renault/Dacia as well so we can get parts cheaply if needed.Jobbo wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 12:58 pm That's an excellent choice - should be fun for him as well as reliable and has Top Gear cred.
Surprisingly this was actually his choice. After looking at other cars and comparing what you get.

Re: New Car
Definitely a good idea to do it that way and now he's ready to go.
Have you got lessons booked yet?
Cheers,

Yes. He’s booked in with an instructor that my nieces have used.Ascender wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 2:16 pmDefinitely a good idea to do it that way and now he's ready to go.

Re: New Car
How does it compare insurance wise? The younger boy has his theory in about 3 weeks at that point I am on the hook for a car. I said not until you've passed theory as I don't want another car on the drive (we are already up to 4 and a dirty great caravan) and one that could sit around unused.
Re: New Car
Group 2 insurance. has to be the 1.2. if you look at the 0.9 its got turbot and its group 8-9. The DCi is group 10.drcarlos wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:33 pm How does it compare insurance wise? Re: New Car
Supposed to be better put together than equivalent Renaults as Romanian roads apparently make ours look like the autobahn. I do have a soft spot for the Dacia brand, feels like it’s filled the void of good old fashioned basic motoring that ford left when it moved more upmarket
Re: New Car
Its got less stuff to break and fall off as well. No AC, Keep fit rear windows, No Cruise, only 2 speakers, no park assist, no auto wipers, no auto lights, no wetbelt ecoboostjamcg wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:36 pm Supposed to be better put together than equivalent Renaults as Romanian roads apparently make ours look like the autobahn. Re: New Car
sounds an ideal car. Probably less attractive to vandals and thieves than a chavved up Corsa as well.
