From a marketing perspective, actually a pretty great advert. Lots of car mags at the time were reporting it as 'BMW trolling Merc', but I don't see it like that. It was a clever and respectful bit of advertising.

Saw Sadowitz last year - definitely a performer you have to go and see at least once in your life.

I'm sure I've seen a snippet of this vid before, but not the whole thing. Lucky to escape with all his fingers, but all ends well.

Posted for no other reason than I'm (perhaps having a blonde moment) trying to work out what the fuck is the purpose of an "unguided air-to-air nuclear rocket"?

"Look, that's an enemy aircraft, we need a nuclear weapon to destroy that... Oh, we missed. Not sure where it'll end up." *shrug*

To ensure simplicity and reliability, the weapon would be unguided, since the large blast radius made precise accuracy unnecessary.
They'd detonate on a timer, set based on speed & distance to target, not on impact.

It seems crazy but there were some seriously bonkers ideas floated back then. Using chickens to keep nuclear landmines warm. Excavating a new Suez canal by burying a load of nuclear warheads along the route and then detonating them. It was a wild time.

And going back to the news story, LOL at the fact a published news story quotes the police as saying it's not a news story
Bellevue Police Department spokesman Seth Tyler, told BBC News on Friday that the device was "just basically a gas tank for rocket fuel".

He called the event "not serious at all".

"In fact, our bomb squad member asked me why we were releasing a news release on a rusted piece of metal," he said.

Pfft, come back to me when you've put a real engine on it.

(it might not be clear from the thumbnail - yes, you can get petrol powered impacts for railroad/heavy industry stuff, but that is not the standard engine...)

Me too, probably on here. I want to see them progress to releasing while zipping on a zip wire, shirley the most sensible next step.
