Pacific Rim. Like a modern cheesy Godzilla, with Idris Elba playing himself as ever. Was a bit of a damp squid really. 6/10

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse what an utterly appalling waste of time. I was glued  highlights included one of the Scouts unable to resist groping a zombie cop's tits, hanging out of a window with only a zombie's nob to hang on to. And then the zombie cat, at which point I was crying laughing. Theres obvs an obligatory hot female lead as well.

Should definitely only be a 1/10, but...

I see Danny Boyle has quit the next Bond film.

I find that surprising and a shame. I wonder if they'll have enough time to find someone new before filming is due to start.

“Creative Differences”

He probably wanted to write a story where Bond ignores his orders and dedicates himself to uncovering “the truth” about The Conservative Party...

I lost faith in DB after the absolute shambles that was Trainspotting 2.

Sorry JL, just close your eyes and picture the joy the entire nation felt when his Olympics Opening ceremony turned out to be “not shit” instead!

A Herzog monologue about the futility of James’ life efforts would be perfect Bond villain material.

At your own risk - they're OK but not as good as Fallout.

This looks like it could be great. Who doesn't want to see an X-15 rendered with a big budget?!! Always remember the vivid way the vibration, noise and sheer physicality of being in the Saturn 5 was described in Moondust (read it, it's great)

I saw a Space Shuttle take off once, in Florida

We were watching from the public beach the other side of the water. I’m not sure exactly how far away it was, but it’s a few miles. When the shuttle took off, you could really feel the ground shake, and that’s from 2 (or so) miles away - it must be crazy in the actual rocket/shuttle

BlacKkKlansman

Amazing. Just go and watch it. Spike Lee is a genius for presenting something so powerful and political in an accessible, entertaining and authentic way.

Solo
This seemed to get a lot of crap from people, but I quite enjoyed it. Silly enough to be fun, but not so much to be mawkish and dumb. Lighter on the references than some recent SW films, too. And L3-37 was fun, like Bender with ethics.

I don't think it needed to be two bloody hours long though - there's a lot of chaff that could have been cut and it would have still remained perfectly fine.

Solo

Quite good but below par compared to the other new Star Wars stuff. The guy who played Han was a bit dull. Donald Glover was great as Lando though.

Hereditary

I thought this was brilliant. Toni Collette was amazing and it builds a genuinely unsettling atmosphere.

Someone we watched it with pointed out the little kid looked like Piers Morgan and once you see it you can't unsee it.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Off the back of the excellent Amazon series I thought I'd watch this. I shouldn't have bothered. Avoid.
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.

I saw The Predator Friday and I rather liked it. Think the reviewers are being a bit po faced about a rather fun and intentionally stupid film. 8 autistic children who understand alien languages out of 10.
