200 odd miles range isn’t a lot. Does it have a 90L tank?
Re: 911 GT3 RS - 1600 mile road trip
No, its got the standard tank which I believe is around 15 gallons.
Re: 911 GT3 RS - 1600 mile road trip
I see. That’s a pity. One thing I like about LHD 911s is the option of 90L tank.
RHD have no such option and stuck with 64L.

I did buy the GT3 RS second hand so didn't ever have the option on the larger tank.Coaster1 wrote: Sun Aug 19, 2018 8:56 pm I see. That’s a pity. One thing I like about LHD 911s is the option of 90L tank.

I have about a 200 mile range with the M3 and I do about 8-10k miles a year. I know the local Shell staff pretty well!
Re: 911 GT3 RS - 1600 mile road trip
I chuckled when I saw the line (I'm paraphrasing) 'at least I got the chance to stretch my legs every couple of hours'. My full to empty best on the VR6, three up with three bikes on the back, steady 200 kph on a highway through the Alps, was about 80 minutes on a tank
- handy for me and my incredibly arthritic hip at the time!
(this is where Jobson tells me it was broken and his Corrado would do 1000 mpg around town in first or something)

It's great to read about there being fun roads in the US (apart from in the occasional evo article). From my very limited experience it's all wide highways and intersections.
Sounds like an ideal place to have a GT3 RS tucked away.

There are some great roads in the US. They just tend to be a scattered in pockets around the country.JonMad wrote: Mon Aug 20, 2018 8:19 am It's great to read about there being fun roads in the US (apart from in the occasional evo article). It was a good trick that the Corrado played, being both faster and more economical than the Golf VR6JLv3.0 wrote: Mon Aug 20, 2018 7:16 am I chuckled when I saw the line (I'm paraphrasing) 'at least I got the chance to stretch my legs every couple of hours'. It had a 15 gallon fuel tank too, IIRC, so did 400 miles per tank relatively easily.
Re: 911 GT3 RS - 1600 mile road trip
Contemporary road tests seemed to be bear that out as well. I REALLY wanted a Corrado VR6.
Re: 911 GT3 RS - 1600 mile road trip
Mine managed upto 37.3mpg on the motorwayJLv3.0 wrote: Mon Aug 20, 2018 7:16 am
