Ooh - dude is posting more of these on twitter. I’m being drawn in….

SD1 Vitesse humps them all on performance but it was looking rather aged beside some of these!

Those pages are fantastic, I'd only need to Read them once as a kid and every stat was locked in my head, to be reeled off at every opportunity.

Though they do remind me instantly of our dentists waiting room...

I remember shatterproof rulers becoming popular because the kids at school with me kept breaking their traditional rulers by bending them over the edge of desks or whatever. So yes, there was a problem with the old sort, particularly wooden rulers.

But they do shatter..! So not sure what 'shatterproof' is supposed to mean exactly.

They're proof that they do shatter.

Shatter proof.

Steel rulers or better set squares were better for dispensing rashers …😉

The goths in Whitby look a bit less convincing to me these days. It is more like a fancy dress and transvestite party than people who actually live as goths.
Mostly a fashion and not a life style choice now-a-days. Huge cross over with the steam punk. Generally friendly communities, very few who take things too seriously.
Was at a Steam Punk event in Halifax a month ago where Jen was trading (witch and fairy dolls/crafts) and a load of us me up later to see an 80s Goth/Alt band in Bradford (my first night out since my seizures started! ). There was everything from dressed up Goths, Steam Punkers from earlier in the day, ACDC, Pink Floyd, Cure, Slayer and NIN (me) T-shirt wearers and a few people in regular non metal/rock fashion.

I think Whitby is over-rated for the Goth event side of things, but Whitby being a nice place/location and a choice of excellent chippy's makes it a good day out and worth the trek.

Can’t remember the last time I went to Whitby. Too many people these days for my liking and the inevitable 30mph 20 mile long train through national speed limit twisty roads provides too much irritation for me to be bothered to go

Maybe if you freeze them but the original shatterproof rulers from the 70s and 80s didn’t.

It means even if you force it it “breaks” rather than “shatters” so you don’t get little splinters flying everywhere. Think safety glass vs old pane glass, it just means it fails safe rather than doesn’t fail
