Your bicycle has probably done nearly that many miles
I'm not sure how it's stayed down to c.8k a year to be honest - I do 40-50 miles a day commuting to work which on its own should be more!

I hate wfh, I only do 1 day a week max. I ride my bike in a fair bit over summer.

Thinking about it, I got the car in December, so a few more months before it's 2 years.

Yeah, this is quite interesting - they were gonna put half of them in rideshare stuff, but repair costs have been waaaay higher than anticipated - reportedly, over 25% higher - so the TCO is getting battered/ That, and the lower prices at retail have reduced the salvage cost so they get written off easier, at least I think that's how that's working.

So yeah, that's one hell of an investment that's rather failing to pay off.

Neighbours Model Y is getting written off, his wife went to avoid a massive pothole in the country lane just outside their house but went too far over and got stuck in the ditch between the road and field. Car looked and drove fine after being recovered but had some damage to the sill and was leased so they call up insurance. They come round and the battery back is a bit dented so it’s scrap.
Crazy fragile cars. You think every winter how many cars slide off into a ditch, get recovered and go as if nothing ever happened. Not so much now.
How about not having a sig at all?

Another day, another courtesy car. :|

The ix wasn't a terrible car but imho a long way behind the ipace, which considering how much older the jag is, one would expect the bmw to be light years ahead. The killer for me is that after a full charge it was predicting 160 miles range, which is 50% lower than advertised on a 1 year 8000 mile old car. They have swapped it for a 330e which is still shite compared to my 5 especially as Im not expecting it back anytime soon.

What? A nearly new car is written off because the battery is dented? Send it to Rich Rebuilds!

They have delivered them all, so not a massive inconvenience but none of them are anywhere near the car they are replacing.

One postive is that I learned that I defiantly couldn't live with idrive 8, it's a huge step backwards from 7 and isnt very BMW. That rules out swapping the 550 for an m3 or b3 touring.

The fecking mouse is still in the Mito. I left a block of rat poison in the car a few weeks ago just in case - go to drive it today and see this.

Image
On the plus side the fecker must be dead. That's a massive block it's consumed. On the minus side I went to open the bonnet and the whole mechanism disassembled itself in my hand  Can't open it even pulling the end of the cable...
I reckon the mouse has built a nest in the air intake/filter of the car. Car has the throttle response of a potato and making much less power.

Tired of this shit now.

New cover arrived. I was temporarily using the cover from the Vantage. A cover that was quite disappointing in the first place. A Coverzone Stormforce. Supposedly tailored fit but it wasn't tailored to fit a Vantage ! Baggy around the corners, not deep enough, and it didn't even prove to be waterproof. Fortunately I got it used/as-new for half the retail price but even then I'm not all that impressed.

Anyway.

Yesterday I ordered a cover from Classic Additions. Their standard covers aren't vehicle-specific, just a range of sizes and they recommend which one you need. It arrived today. Quite a nice stretchy material. Reasonable fit but not perfect of course and it never claimed to be and tbf the mid engined layout gives the car a slightly different profile to a "normal" car. I tried putting it on backwards but it didn't help

It has far fewer seams than the Coverzone and this must be a good thing as the seams are definitely a weak point in terms of waterproofness. Neither have taped seams.

So we shall see how we get on. The Classic Additions custom made covers are 2x the price of their standard one or the tailored Coverzone. That probably means they will actually fit.

I had a stormforce and it was a useless piece of crap which didn’t even come close to fitting the car it was bought for.

A £50 universal Halfords one fitted better and lasted longer.

I use the classic additions ones now much better, they do lose their waterproofness after a while, but never had one rip.

That's really my experience too but I was holding back on being quite so harsh just in case I was being unreasonable ! Glad to get confirmation there :D

It's the same handle and mechanism as a Fiat Doblo/Peugeot Bipper which is much cheaper than the Alfa part!

Slightly curious (in a good way) thing about the new cover. In the photo above you can see a sticky-out bit halfway down the rear window. Now that it's been on the car for a day that bit has relaxed down and is far less noticeable. I'm not sure if that's deliberate and it "learns" the shape of the car, or just coincidence. I'll do another pic tomorrow to compare.
