Is "Pumpkin outside the house - Trick or Treat welcome - NO pumpkin outside the house, don't knock" not a more universal thing. This works well here...

That's the convention where I live Dinny. Not sure it's the norm everywhere.

Re: Randomness
I remember a particular neighbour who would turn into the most angry man in the world during Halloween, we would visit him each year for Halloween just to revel in his extreme anger and hatred. I don't know why he would answer the door just to shout at everyone but we'd split into pairs, knock his door, witness him ramble about disturbing his privacy and how it's a shit American tradition etc etc whilst the rest of us were pissing ourselves laughing across the road. Wait 5 minutes and return to his house with another pair of mates.
Just one of those things we still talk about 15 years later as it was the highlight of Trick or Treat back then

Didn't someone know of the driver?

All jokes aside - that looks nasty. I think she turned her head enough not to fuck up her nose but still...

Re: Randomness
Aye, we coincidentally had our dept wide call yesterday afternoon and being a fashion brand full of goths everyone went wild with their costumes. I just kept my camera off

No it's not.
I had two knocks last night. There was a group of 4 with awesome makeup who decended on the sweets like a hoard of locust and one young lad who was dressed up as a reaper who I had to call back as he had only taken one sweet and I got him to take a fistful because I was genuinely shocked at the contrast with the previous group.

Re: Randomness
Here it is mostly kids we know from school who come round. There'll be messages on the parents' groups about who they can visit.
We were out yesterday so left a tin of sweets out by the door. Hadn't been emptied by the time we got back.
Kids from further up came down to offer our kids sweets because they hadn't been up that end of the road.
It can be very nice!
