Maybe I can finally buy a McLaren F1 for £20,000 as everyone realises its an overhyped POS and not even better than a Mk1 Focus :D

I’m sure most of the time they make these lists a bit controversial on purpose to get people talking about it, drive people to engage with their social media, maybe, maybe even buy a copy to look for themselves?
Maybe it's only cars that were released after Evo started? Focus is 98, Elise is 96, RB5 99 etc.

Well there was an S1 Elise in the inaugural ecoty.

I guess though seismic cars are ones that made a big splash in the last 25 years, and the S1 falls outside that category as its splash was in '96. When you look at the list in that context, it actually kinda makes sense.

Hopefully for over 25 years or they really are on borrowed time. Autocar's been going since 1895 so they may be alright...

Wasn't/isn't the mk1 focus hailed as the car that redefined how well a cooking hatch drove and looked? The escort it replaced was awful and blobby.

Yeah, it forced Vauxhall to make the Astra less of a massive piece of shit, too, because compared to the Escort it wasn't much cop, compared to the Focus it was a joke.

It did that rare thing of improving the entire class.

Most significant drivers cars of the last 25 years doesn't necessarily mean the best then. I guess you'd want a fast 4x4 for most manufacturers as without them they'd fail to still be around.
Maybe BMW 1M, the first turbot M, probably more significant than the E46?
Maybe a Urus is more significant than a Gallardo, but they're both shit. Wasn't the Gallardo as it was launched a pretty terrible car?
MP4-12C another one the reviews at the time weren't too kind, but I guess it was the first modern McLaren. Still the best looking IMO.

i think the E92 M3 was more significant, the last NA BMW engine ever made - and a brilliant one at that.

Or one of the current M cars - last non hybrid car.

Current M2 is the last one, all the new models starting with the M5 next year will be hybrid.

I'm talking about all BMW cars not just Ms, the e9x M3s V8 was the last car engine BMW made without a turbo. And it was a bespoke engine that wasn't shared with any other car outside the M3s or any other manufacturer (apart from a few mega exotics).

Basically it was far more special than the e46 imo - sounds and drove better too. One day everyone will notice!

Chris Harris rates the MK1 Focus as the most impressive thing he's driven (words to that effect).

I had one on demo at launch for a couple of weeks and it blew my mind. It made other normal cars feel like the turds they were.
