Yeah, I have no idea who they are but apparently they were pretty terminally online and were either going to get a ban, or break their brain trying

More 'clean cut', big spender brands being advertised next to full blown white supremacists and anti-Semites - who've been banned from other platforms but are still being actively promoted on Twitter; by nature of them being verified their content gets boosted in the feeds, etc

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/10/05/medi ... index.html
“Racist hate speech is completely antithetical to everything the STARZ brand stands for and we have suspended all advertising on X immediately and indefinitely,” a STARZ spokesperson told me Thursday evening.

A spokesperson for the New York Waterway told me that it found the news “disturbing” and that the company had “no knowledge” of the matter and would “definitely be contacting” X about it. The representative added that New York Waterway “wants nothing to do with hate speech, and we do not want our ads near any organization or entity that promotes it.”

Jon Kelly, co-founder and editor-in-chief of Puck, said that it was “obviously appalling and completely antithetical” to the company’s values to advertise on VDARE’s profile. Kelly said the outlet has since “enacted various measures to hopefully ensure this was the first and last time that this happens.”

The University of Missouri said it does not “condone organizations that promote intolerance.” Cox Communications said it was investigating the matter. And a spokesperson for the NFL pointed to its previous statement expressing concern that its advertisements were appearing on the accounts belonging to racists.
Whoopsy, eh?

Anyone else noticing that Israel seem to have bought half the ad slots on X?
They’re actually advertising the dead babies - unblurred. Just reading an F1 thread and didn’t expect that.
How about not having a sig at all?

Twitter will be desperate for the ad money. Any money.

I have noticed my engagement on Twitter has really tanked without a blue tick.

Has anyone got a Bluesky code they can let me have ? A few accounts I follow seem to be migrating that way.

I’d be keen on a Bluesky invitation too. Same thing: some accounts I follow have migrated completely.

X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, will begin charging new users $1 a year to access key features including the ability to tweet, reply, and quote, according to a source familiar with the matter and later confirmed by the company.

Yeah, cos bots won't pay a dollar a year for access...there's plenty of them that pay for Blue FFS.

Yeah, hilarious. Absolute amateur hour over at Twitter. No understanding of bots and how they work at all.

I'm sure there'll be another weird payment scheme in another few weeks proposed.

If there's one thing people love, it's constantly changing terms and conditions and payment plans.

Lol.

"Nuh uh, the DSA didn't kick us out of Europe for being too incompetent to moderate our own content, we left"

I'm sure advertisers would be thrilled with losing near half a billion potential eyeballs because Musk stripped out the staff who used to at least try to moderate the sort of content being complained about.

In the last couple of days, whenever I've clicked on a link to a tweet - whether from in Twitter or from a thread on here - it's taken me to the last tweet that I looked at, not the one I have just clicked. Close it, click again and it gets there. I can only assume this is a twitter error since it's not happening to anything else I click on, and it's still taking me to Twitter, just the wrong thing on Twitter.

Now I've noticed tweets disappearing from in front of my eyes as I'm half way through reading them. Still suffering the same when clicking to open a tweet in a new tab. Functionality seems to be breaking.

I've stopped using Twitter/X lately. It must just be because I'm old, but I'm just confused about all these quotas and paid for memberships, and it seems like insta does most of the same stuff better.

Maybe I'll get back into it at some point. Also don't get the branding change. :?

I don't even hate Elon as much as most people, so it's certainly not personal.

I'm pretty much the same. Except I'm increasingly naffed off with Insta as well. Between the sponsored posts, ads and the fucking infuriating timeline bullshit that FB persist with.
