Who does the music and tv installations ?

Post by V8Granite »

I know Chris used to do this years ago. Is he still posting under a different name or is it someone else here who does home installations etc ?

I have some questions.

I would have sworn that AudioChris joined ov9, but I don't see him on the member list.

We will be getting a Samsung The Frame TV just before Christmas and would like to not have a visible sound bar. The TV will rotate 90 degrees when used as a TV.

It’s a party wall and not very thick so sunken speakers aren’t doable and the picture ones are out of our budget.

There is a chance of a small sound bar but inside a floating shelf. We haven’t got a store close where we can listen to the TV yet but might be able to if we travel to Leicester. I’m assuming it’s like most modern TVs in that the sound is flat. We currently have a Samsung Plasma and a sound bar with subwoofer. From what I gather we can’t just connect a subwoofer to the TV.

We want it so when you are in the room there isn’t a sign that there is a TV.

Will a small sound at do the job ? It will need to be behind some fabric as it can’t be visible. It’s only 3.5 x 4.5 m room.

Any plugs etc will all have to be hidden within the floating shelf.

(Yes that’s a lot of words to badly convey what I’m trying to do)

The frame is a 2 part tv- the screen is just a screen and speakers. There’s a separate box which houses the inner workings of the tv, which is where you plug the power supply and hdmi leads etc, and connects to the tv via its own cable.

What this means is you’re going to have to find a location to stash a box anyway, as well as any sound bar you buy

You could use a small stereo amp with a sub output and use it for music as well.

My daughter has uses a Tangent Ampster with Q-Acoustics speakers and sub for the same purpose.

Wouldn’t that mean having visible speakers though ?

Yeah, we use BT free view which we like so housing that box along with the TV connection box is already stretching space a bit.

Basically having a nice sounding TV without seeing anything.

Yes but it would visually be a small stereo setup rather than a sound bar on the wall.

Sounds like I haven't got the jist of what your trying to achieve lol

Sadly not as it’s a patterned ceiling and it would stick out too much.

It sounded easy in my head but seems a right faff to achieve.
