I'm sure they can, and I'm sure the engineers would very much like to, but commercial will have done some kind of analysis of manufacturing cost vs. warranty cost and decided this is "better". I would place money on it.

My mrs’ 2000 mk4 Astra coupe had crazed sun damaged tips of the headlights approx 15 years ago.

No it won’t buff out, but it will sand and polish out, you can see from the shadows in that pic of the really bad one that’s it’s not all the way through the plastic.

I guess the way some lenses are shaped and formed puts more specific stresses on them and makes them more print to cracking / crazing rather than just discolouring.

Still pretty shitty that manufacturers still can’t ( or don’t want to ) make something as basic as a headlight lens which will last a decent amount of time.

I've spotted the same on the tail lights of our Superb. 3yo when I first spotted it. That's pretty shit. No idea if it's sun/heat related ro just tiny stress fractures. They're on the inside though so no chance of polishing out.

For a brake from broken thermostats, I had a fight with the Cayenne. NSF wheel has long had a slow leak from around the rim. Remove tyre, scrub, apply goo, refit tyre. Keep fingers crossed that it has done the job.

Kuga was delivered today, was amazing how dirty a brand new car was, took a good 4 Hours of cleaning before I could ceramic coat it.

Done a grand total of 2 miles on petrol, rest on electric, unless you floor it it does it's best to use the electric, it's very smooth.

Handles pretty well for a tall car, has a decent B&O sound system, heated front and rear seats, heated front screen, the app is good, you can remote start the car, set the climate l, check where it is, lock/unlock it, check tyre pressures etcs.

If I could change anything about it, I'd like an AWD one, which doesn't exist, it would be great for winter where we live, and would probably have helped my case for keeping the XF.

But, I'm glad I got this over the AWD Sportage, as it drives so muc better.

Looks like it'll work in a restricted space. I don't need to drill out the housing, I just need remove the old insert, chase the threads, and put a new insert in. These tools will work with a 1/4" socket on them.

Boxster mot yesterday. Slight cracking on a rear (done 15k + and a trackday) and rusty springs on the off side front and back.

My specialist has never heard of the spring rust so as its the same tester who put the mini had rusty springs a few years ago. Maybe its his go to to show he's actually checking?

Other than this I've a slight knock on the front which could be the fork arms.

Still cant find the source of my leak tho - deffo not blocked drains but something to keep an eye on as it gets wet under the passenger seat so potential for nothing working as the control box is there.

Parts showing up on 26th August! Result.. they’re replacing the front bumper as it’s damaged by the tyre issue: eh? I’ve scrapped it on various speed bumps etc but that was not in my report.. seems insurance company did two assessments (hence delay) and paying for more expensive .. I’m going to pay for that at some point, aren’t I??

I’m gifting my SP Blenheim tickets to a mate so just need to move flight and I should be good for 2nd!

Found why one of the x5 rears is losing pressure ( about 5psi / week )

This morning when I checked it the valve was at the bottom of the wheel and because it had been raining the recess was full of water, I could hear air escaping.

Glad it’s not a puncture or a cracked wheel. Got to decide whether I attempt to break the bead and stick a new valve in myself or not

Have found someone breaking one with an oe towbar setup, loom, module etc, all plug and play.

Quite excited, first car I will have ever owned with a towbar

It's got to be worth a try ? I had one of the Cayenne tyres off the other day and it wasn't that bad. A LOT easier than the two runflats on the old Clubman. I ended up cutting those off.

That’s the 6 year SMG, diff, plugs + the regular servicing done. M5 much nicer to work on than the M6 as there’s 1-2 inches more room all round. M5 also has a cut out in its undertray for the oil filter whereas the M6 doesn’t which adds an extra hour of faff removing and refitting the undertray.
Special shout out to the undertray for the gearbox which has a series of naca ducts to feed air to the radiator. What I really want to point out is the sharp plastic fangs which divert air into the ducts. Their secondary function was to cut a pair of slits into the top of my scalp. Then I did it again on the other car. So I have 4 cuts on my scalp now.

Did the X5 and Defender too. X5 also generally horrible to work on as all the trim is cheap brittle plastic which breaks if you look at it wrong. Defender a sigh of relief as it has no shitty undertrays.
