Audi Q3/Q5?
Yeti would be a good choice if you can persuade him.

Just tell him to get whatever Hyundai or a Kia offroader has the nicest dealer and leave you out of it.
Re: Moon on stick car for my dad.
You keep fighting that good fight Rich. God loves a tryer
Re: Moon on stick car for my dad.
Well we all know it’ll be a Kia or a Hyundai - old people only buy Kias or Hyundai’s. It is known.

Re: Moon on stick car for my dad.
My in laws just bought a brand new Kia Venga! (£14k, yeah, I know).
I didn’t bother trying to talk them into something different but I did point out the >20% saving they’d get buying nearly new <1yr old, or if they really wanted new them to wait for a 68 plate or get more off an 18 plate. They went for the 68 plate (with a bit more back on trade in than previously offered).

To be fair, a Qashqai is also on the old person list, but he ruled that out already.

Poverty spec! The halogens are like candles on the yeti so if he drives in the dark (as opposed to at night in a city) he may want to look for Elegance spec or above.scotta wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 1:54 pm Ive convinced him to go have a look at a Yeti.
2015 car with 30k on the clock.

Other than the paint work being very thin and the brake discs being chocolate the Yeti was a decent car.
Re: Moon on stick car for my dad.
Well that Yeti was a bit fucked - ex motability car, no service history book, big scuff on the rear bumper and door but worst of all - electrical issues. The HVAC controls were all over the place. Hot blowing cold. Cold blowing warm and middle blowing roasting hot.
On to the next. Seen a 2012 Tiguan in Newcastle.

My old man went for a Mitsubishi ASX. They seem boring as sin but the Diesels have the 2.0 VAG engines which served us well in our Grandis.
A little over 10k though:

You'd probably get at least a grand off though for a large cash deposit.
Carl.
Edit - Sorry the Derv is 2.2 of Mitsbuishi's own design.

Re: Moon on stick car for my dad.
assuming this was a “trade” car with that sort of shit story behind it? Best to find a nice private sale from some other old chap who looks after his Hyundai/Kia fastidiouslyscotta wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 6:38 pm Well that Yeti was a bit fucked - ex motability car, no service history book, big scuff on the rear bumper and door but worst of all - electrical issues. Things are probably much the same with other makes.

That explains that then. Was more put off by the electrical issue.nuttinnew wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 8:19 pmThey didn't have one as such, I don't which year from though.

Keep banging that drum Rich - you know no-one ever listens, don't you. Except me who bangs the same one, whilst no-one ever listens.Rich B wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 7:13 pmassuming this was a “trade” car with that sort of shit story behind it? SO DVLA are having a systems outage over the weekend. As a result nobody can tax any cars over the weekend. So the plan to go down to look at the Tiguan on Saturday and drive it back if its any good is burst. As a result were leaving in 10 mins to look at it tonight and then will have to go back for it at the weekend if its any use.
